Approx 300 votes and it’s about 60-40 Av’s. It’s a tougher series to call considering the results so far. The Oilers have the legs to skate with the Av‘S. It’s going to be interesting what team ends up winning the skating battle.

As slick as Makar is I sometimes feel he’s a bit of a defensive liability and he plays a lot of minutes. The Oil have the guns to make him pay.

Can the Av’s take advantage of the Oils weaker D? I think so. I doubt this is some defensive battle though. Thinking lots of scoring.

Rant has to show up for the Av’s. He was a ghost against the Blues. The Oil is going to need monster efforts from everyone similar to how Hyman has blossomed in Edmonton. The Av’s are better on paper but this time of year paper matchups meaningless and that paper better used for wiping your ass.

Looking forward to it! YEE HAW….LETS GET IT ON

Again, the Flames were the 3rd best defensive team in the league and had a Vezina candidate goaltender. The Oilers beat them and if you want to attribute that solely to luck go right ahead, but if your justification is "I've watched 25 years of playoff hockey," I'm sorry, I won't buy into that garbage.

In reality, they ran into a generational talent at the top of his game and a supporting cast that all produced like they were supposed too (and may remain hot moving into the next series). More credit should go to the Oilers than is being given to them.
Do you know how many times a President’s trophy winning team has shit the bed in the playoffs? Regular season stats only tell part of the story when it comes to the playoffs. Teams find another gear. Some crumble under pressure, some thrive, individually or collectively. There’s a reason why the 4th liner-turned-playoff-hero is a literal trope. There’s a reason why regular season superstars develop choker labels. Playoffs are a different beast. The team that had the likes of Zadorov and Rasmus Andersson topping off their TOI and had a historically unstable goalie in net imploding isn’t outlandish just because they were the 3rd best defensive team in the regular season. Like I said in one of my first posts on this topic, they were a paper tiger.

I am contributing the appropriate amount for your hate fuelled brain vomit.
If you view honest dialogue as “hate fuelled,” then maybe consider that you’re over-sensitive or biased. I don’t have a dog in this fight. This isn’t an emotional debate for me. It’s an honest observation that is rustling the feathers of some rose-colored glass-wearing fans. Nothing more.

Obviously the Oilers are a huge underdog but after basically taking apart one of the West's best teams I don't think they can be underestimated. Now, McDavid/Draisatl probably aren't going to put up 2 pts each every game again and it'll be important for the depth to show up.

I'd be all in on the Avalanche but Kuemper seems like such an Achilles heel to me. Feel like McDavid is going to dummy him, Avalanche still probably pull it out though

Lol honest dialogue based on a YOUR personal playoff standard that you are subjecting on every one else in this thread is not possible.

Agreed. Avs winning this series comes down to Makar and Keumper, IMO. If either of those guys becomes a defensive liability, the Avs are screwed. But this is really where we’re gonna see what Makar is made of. This series is either going to be his coming out party as a true #1 defenseman capable of safe two-way play, or it’s going to be the series that tones down his superstar status. People only like elite offensive defenseman for so long before they start to resent their lack of defensive wherewithal.

Never change.

This bodes well the Oilers. I love how no one gives the Oilers a chance, all the pressure on the Avs.
It’s because we have watched both teams play. League is full of parity. Anyone can beat anyone. To me I have always considered the Avs the best team in the league. I don’t see that changing. It’s their year. I bet 100 dollars at the start of the year for them to win the cup. Feeling pretty good

Tampa is the best team in the league, bar none.

It’s not really personal. 15 goals scored in a playoff game isn’t normal. 4 playoff goals scored in 1.5 minutes isn’t normal. Having a waiver wire defenseman, a guy with a separated shoulder, a guy with multiple broken ribs, and a perpetual healthy scratch featured among your playoff defense squad isn’t normal. And my relative viewing experience compared to hundreds of playoff games watched before wasn’t normal either, so I decided to comment. Just because it doesn’t align with a homer’s viewing experience doesn’t make it dishonest.
