why do we keep hearing about the stars depth, their depth is their strength, depth wins.....

looks like a 3 line, 5 d team to me

the PP merchant oilers managed to win only scoring 5v5 goals (again).

dallas is no slouch and had some time off etc etc but the oilers arent the bums other fans are trying to make them out to be. although i will agree they rolled through 2 bum teams to get to the wcf

We are PK merchants now, Corn.

And yes this playoff is far from over.

I remember the Sportsnet crew pointing this out, going through the slow-motion replay........and I was laughing because what difference does it make?

Are slashes on the shinpads allowed? Or is it a slash either way, which is what I thought going into the game?
You do realize we could could go through the tape of any hockey game...playoffs especially and find probably 20-30 slashes or cross checks on par and far worse than this one?

you can tell the difference with the D between van and dallas though. dallas d are big but they arent physical

100% a decent slash to the shins will result in a trip, slashes are typically reserved for stick on stick or slashes into the hands/arm area

the PK is actually so awesome for 2 reasons, 1 they rarely get scored on, but moreso because 97/18/2/29 get a nice break and then get to come out together

Oh probably. Like I said earlier, for the most part the refs put their whistles away and weren't calling much.

They happened to call this slash, and of course Dallas did sweet-****-all with the man advantage anyway.

Also, it still doesn't address my question of why it apparently matters where the Stars player was slashed.

In 13 playoff games we have allowed PP goals in only 2 games.

Honestly, yeah. That kind of a slash happens basically every shift which was why it was so weird that it got called.

They usually call stuff on the hands (in theory). But little whacks in the leg are always let go.

I thought this game was a positive for Dallas

They were able to keep it close without their 1C and this was basically a must win game for Edmontons and they got it done

You beat a team without their 1C in double overtime

Maybe wait a bit more before boasting about how amazing you are..
TBH, the way Dallas has played these playoffs, the must win games don't start until we're back in EDM. They're 5-1 on the road so far.

I'm confused or maybe don't know modern Stars hockey, but the Oilers out hitting them 32 - 25 was bizarre to me, I would've thought Dallas with the extra time off would've come out flying, crashing, and banging, but it was near non-existent, maybe I'm just old..

Still standing by it, Stars in 5 or possibly 6.

Every Stars' fan already called a game 1 loss, this team starts series slow. It is what it is. And to top it off they suck at home too, I believe they're 2-5 this playoffs. Oilers did exactly what they need to, to win. The big players showed up and Skinner had a solid game. I don't expect both those things to keep happening for 3 more games for them to win the series.

And I knew there'd be crying about the refs, but what game were some of you watching. I believe, Dallas is one of if not the least penalized teams in the league. You aren't going to be getting more PPs than them. I hate when people think PPs should be even. No, that's not how it works. Every penalty against Edmonton was warranted, hands to the head against Kane, slash on the gloves in the slot, and a non-arguable McDavid high stick (he got away with it last series, so don't go crying about it when he gets caught this time). I didn't see Dallas commit any infractions that Edmonton also wasn't called for.

Overall, Edmonton was the better team this game. I was mostly impressed by their penalty kill, though 75% of it was just winning the face off and not allowing the Stars to get set up. But those are two huge aspects of a PP/PK, so all the credit to them.

One thing this game reminded me of the Colorado series, not much animosity between the teams. They're just going out there and playing hockey. None of this constant after the whistle bs.

No surprises from either fanbase with overreacting after a game 1. It's the end of the world for Dallas, and Edmonton's winning the cup. Every series, every fan base. Like clockwork.
Lmfao.

"No disrespect to the oilers"
*lots of disrespect ensues*

Avs outhit Dallas by a lot, believe Vegas did as well. Dallas doesn't tend to hit a lot.
