Rangers-Panthers series reminds me a lot of the Stars-Oilers series.

Every Panthers win has been followed up by an Oilers win. Rangers had 2-1 series lead, Stars had a 2-1 series lead.

Rangers have lost 3 straight now after tonight, Stars have lost 2 straight so far...lose tomorrow and it's a perfect copy of the ECF.

Even the way the teams are playing reminds me of this series. Oilers controlling the last 2 games, Stars best players not showing up. Same thing in the East

Yeah me and my buddies have been saying the same thing. The joke in the group chat since game three has been that the NHL script writers got lazy and reused the same one for this round.

Visually it looks to me like the Oilers defense has solved the stars rush and stretch tactics - and the others offense has found a way to still find success while being committed to staying back. The first part isn't unique, I think both the Avs and Knights at times figured out how to defend the Stars weak side fast stretch tactics - but neither could do it while still being effective offensively, and that's where the stars wore them out. It also just looks to me like the Oilers are providing a physical challenge that the Knights and Avs weren't - or maybe there is some fatigue that's setting in from the Stars. But certainly the oilers are the biggest and most functionally tough / physical of those three teams - and the stars are relatively unphysical. I also found it interesting with Tanev potentially out it was

The question for me in game 6 is whether or not the stars have a new look or not. Because if we're at status quo - I think the Oilers take it. That said, I do feel like the matchup game has the stars kind of painted into a corner - in order to piss a drop versus either the McDavid or the Draisaitl line only thing that's been effective last two games is the Benn/Stankoven/Johnston trio. Then you kind of need to staple Robertson and Hintz together... And outside of that, any other move you can make is kind of just moving around deck chairs on the Titanic it feels like.

But who knows - I'd have said the same thing about bringing back McLeod and Perry and they've been fantastic - so what the hell do I know. All I really know is that it'll be a hella entertaining game tomorrow and I'm excited to see how it goes.

Good luck - but I hope your stars lose. 😅 Let's go oilers!

Oilers will put this old tired Dallas team out to pasture next game. Their big guns just don’t have the wheels anymore to skate with the Oilers.

It’s not a slight on Dallas, beat the Avs, beat Vegas but a lot of the older guys don’t have the legs for this and the guys that do are young and inexperienced. At some point you hit a wall. Last game they struggled to keep up.

On the other hand, Skinner could implode at any moment so who the f*** knows.

Also someone else said it but Deboer teams are so predictable and the guy just hesitates to make adjustments and would rather rely on veteranosity to try and win game.

Auston Matthews is a regular season merchant…
I don't think that's totally fair. He has the potential of being the driving force of a deep run, even all the way to the cup. But something needs to change for the play-offs, maybe some mental thing.

it’s fair until he shows he can do it, and he’s going to be 27 in September.. there’s a very realistic possibility that he’s already peaked as a goalscorer
