same rules as the NHL, but he was clearly moving his foot

So? It was unintentional, he can be moving and it can go off his foot and in and count. He didnt have a kicking motion toward the puck, it went off his foot by luck.

hm... okay then

no, a tie. no OT

You can move your foot all you want. Just can't kick at it (which usually indicates lifting the foot off the ice - I have no icea what this looks like cause I'm not watching it on TV).

What now? OT-shootout? Or just call it a draw?

Pierre giving Conklin some love for the three huge saves on the 2 on 0

What a great third period!!! Very exciting hockey. I feel bad for everyone that couldn't watch it ..... ;)

Draw, no OT or Shootout.

A tie is perfect for Team Canada...a win over Sweden will pretty much clinch the pool now....

Parrish looking right, puck hits his non-moving left skate -- close but it counts
Oh it was moving alright but it was not a kicking motion. He slightly was in Bäckströms face too but not enough to disallow the goal.

Anyway, it was a great game after all. Too bad we lost a point despite a great come back but that's hockey. Here's to both teams.

doesn't even have to be unintentional...just as long as he's not kicking the puck towards the net. intentionally moving his foot so the puck deflects off of it and into the net is fine as long as it's not done by kicking

i clearly saw it 10 times so moving...
i guess when it's yer team, it looks rite...

:dunno:

When looking ahead is 0 degrees and you are looking 90 degrees to the right and the puck its your left skate at 270 degrees (in a 360 degree circle) -- unless you have eyes in the back of your head there is no way he purposefully kicked that in. Moreover, his skate wasnt moving forward so unless they changed what kicking means.

Disagree. It's more of an underdog thing. Honestly If I were you I would actually be half-way hoping that American fail miserably this year. That might embarass Hockey USA enough to start getting the Top US players out again for international games. Where is Roenick? Where is Tkachuk? Where is Hatcher?

These guys should be coming out to play for the USA and I think only if they hit rock bottom will these guys start to realize they should be proud to represent their country

Oh WOW. Conklin stops a break to keep the USA in it. Hopefully that will spark the American players a bit. What a save!!!

Weight with a good shift right after the save :) AND THEY SCORE!!!!

Wait going ustairs....

The problem with people like you is you spout off on things you have no clue about. The U.S. brass decided to go with a decidedly younger team this year, made up almost exculsively of players that have, you know, actually played this year. The last event where our "best" was present was the World Cup, and we all know how that turned out. The U.S. just can't seem to get any slack. We did what many suggested, and phased out one generation for the next, and now when there is some growing pains, the call is there to bring them back. Give me a break! The U.S. is 2-1-1 so far. Not so bad IMO.

you live, you learn

i thought when it was an intentional move of yer foot directing the puck into the net it was a kick. i guess it's not soccer. lucky yanks survive, finns survive as well :)

cheers!

I say good game by both teams. I think both goalies want to forget the 3rd period though.

Norrena or Bäkström next game for finland?
No news yet. Bäckström was also shaky at times but so was Norrena when he played. Bäckström played quite good in this game, but we will see.

Hey I am all for giving the young guys a chance!!! Look at the Canadian World cup team with JayBo, Lecavalier St. Louis, etc. I loved that team. But they also had guys lioke Foote, Blake, Sakic, You know, vets to show the kids how to get it done. Tossing a young team like this to the wolves seems like a bad idea to me. When your vet defensemen is Hal Gill, you have some problems. All I meant is I think a more balanced approach would be better, and the guys like Hatcher and Tkachuk should have demanded to play for the team, or at least been a bit more upset about the lack of their selection.

I meant no offense. I am an Oilers fans and was really only cheering for York, Conklin, and Rita. I have no feeling either way about the american team.

Did not see game.

Any info on how Conklin played?

Who was responsible for blowing the 3 goal lead?

For those that watched the past two US games, who does it look like gets the nod in net for the remainder?

Thanks.

Again, the U.S. team is 2-1-1. The average age of the players on the team is 28, so it's not like we're dealing with a team of doe eyed rookies. It's just a differant squad than most of us are used to seeing represent the U.S. and that will take some getting used to.

OT...love the avatar. You're a Rene Magritte\surrealism fan?

-Timonen brutal, Saravo beyond brutal, Kallio brutal, Peltonen semi-brutal, Bäckström good until last period, poor coaching from Team Finland

Good game otherwise, Finland will most definetly miss the medal games though.

They should give a chance to Tim Thomas. The way he´s played this year with Jokerit he could be better than those two guys.IMO.
