Team Canada DESERVED to lose. Pathetic pieces of crap on the ice, for the entire tournament.

And lets be honest, this is what should've been expected of them when the team was named. Too many grinders and "gritty" players. Who the hell sends Walker, Maltby, Fisher, Phillips, etc. to a tournament full of deadly players?

Secondary scoring was never available for Canada.
That's not true. The players they brought were certainly a medal candidate and I think would they have played this year in some teams it could have been different. Not taking anything away from the Czechs, games still need to be played.

Congrats to Czechs. I did not know which one I was rooting for, but Ryan Smyth showed in the end, that the right team really won. Horrible stuff, what on earth was he trying to do...break the guys foot? Wasn't the first time Canada lost their marbles after losing a game, but hopefully the last. That sort of crap has no place in hockey.

Czechs were amazing defensively in this tournament, and that won them the championship. Not a real surprise with that lineup.

I have no clue what ryan smyth was doing at the end there I'm an oilers fan and he always plays with class but he sure wasn't showing it there

I think he was objecting to Fisher's stick lodged between his 'nads.

Interesting that both finalists (before the final) had their only loses in the tournament from the teams that played in bronze medal game, Canada from Sweden and Chech from Russia.

They have to win when it counts...

Thats right

Why don't you just be happy that you won, and stop insulting the Canadian players. I can see why Smyth is upset, since he wanted the gold, so quit picking on him. I suppose the Czech players wouldn't have gotten upset, if it were reversed, huh?

They're not really rubbing it in. Canada played terrible, and commenting on that doesn't mean it's rubbing it in.

I don't think they played terrible. Canada needs their physical strength alot more than the Czechs to perform well. Czechs can rely on being "sneaky" and technical, Canada needs to be explosive and physical. In that way, I think the back-to-back games hurt their chances a little more to break through the Czech defense (which we all know always is very tight to begin with). There is no shame in losing to a great Czech team like this.

I've said it since the first day of the tournament...

but some players who played this year sucked too. like Souray, Heatley, Morrisson...

Morrisson, OMG what was he doing on the second line anyway???

Czech's played the better game by far, IMO. I can't remember any great scoring chances Canada actually had while the Czechs had numberous chances.

The Thornton line was a non-issue all game and really that line was the only real threat the Czechs had to worry about. They did the right thing by shutting down that line because if that line ain't going Canada's nothing more than a defensively troubled team with great goaltending. The second line had offensive power, but they never got it together all tournament, and the bottom 2 lines had barely any offensive power at all. They provided very little threat for scoring goals.

I don't know what else to say except the Czechs played so well. They seemed to have a solid team effort throughout the whole game. Very impressed, but disappointed at the sametime.

Canada only should have dressed players, which actually played professional hockey this year.

Anybody else thinks in a similar way?

YAP, Thornton and Nash were playing in Switzerland and they were the best players of Canada, no doubt about it .... Every Czechs players were playing its advantage but .....

My two cents are that Morrison is not a winner perhaps. Just like Markus Näslund. Those dudes never stands up in the stanley cups either nor the national team(well, Markus has always been HORRIBLE in the nationa team). And Morrison was really poor in the playoffs in SEL this year as well.

Spacek seems drunk already (referring to an interview with Swedish TV) :)
One of my favourite players actually :)

Congrats Czechs btw

Granted that Mo seems to " Dissapear" during the most important parts, but he is a player with heart, and I think he had his chances, and he was very solid.

I have to give the Swedes props, They were without their bigname players, and came out very solid, Great Job by the Swedes.

Amazing how one mistake turns Smyth from Captain Canada to Charles Manson. I'm not defending his actions in any means, but some of you are blowing this out of proportion. Fischer's no angel himself, either.

Hehe. I noticed. I hope he and Straka comes to the SEL next year.

The best team won, no question. Canada never looked like they had a chance to win it, Czechs were ahead of them in every area.

I've always considered Smyth one of my fav players but what he did was brutally dirty, 7-8 slashes at opponents ankles is TOTALLY dirty and he would have gotten his ass kicked in the NHL for doing that.

This is not the first time Canada has orchestrated a scene like that at the end of the game they are losing (in WCH tournaments that is) so I was expecting something to happen, not just something that cheap & dirty what Smyth did.

Congratulations to the Czechs, well done! Jagr looked really happy when he got his medal (first gold for him in this tournament)! Well they all did of course! :)

At least Swedes didn´t try to break any legs after the defeat became apparent.

Slashing a skate doesn't break your leg ;)

I really can't say enough about Jagr. If New York can get a decent supporting cast they could surprise some people next season.

Jagr and Slegr had 3 the most important titels .. SC,WC and olympic golds ... Yeahh at long last !!!!

The kind of boring thing about this is that I saw this coming since Czechs - Slovaks game, you need offence, defence and goaltending to win. Czechs had it, Swedes too, and I would've been shocked to see either Canada or Russia take the title.

Jagr was great and he is now one of the select few who have a Stanley Cup, Olympic Gold and World Championship along with Fetisov, Forsberg, Larionov...

Adapted son of the day: Jan Hlavac should play for Finns, great work all night and can't score.

Of the Canadian side, I thought Simon Gagne was pretty good.

Good ref, really liked the call on Maltby and the diving calls.
