And I don't know why the discussion about the first is still ongoing. It was not a goal. Check the rulebook.

Let em have it, its canada's game right. Happens every year, russian refs or not.

Nah, was not good. Changed the whole game. Lucklily it was not an elimination game.

Good luck to the Fins the rest of the way

Referee thought there was no need for a review and in that case the video ref can't change anything. Only reason they spoke with him was because the video ref wanted to know why they allowed it. It's stupid but that's how it works. Ref thought it was a clear goal because of using the wrong rule.

Thanks for the additional information. Pure incompetence on the Ref's part.

I wouldn't have liked it if it was against Canada. Regardless though, Canada wasn't going to lose against the Finns yesterday.

Almost all Canadian fans and the whole TSN broadcast team thought it was a bad call. Outside of a few trolls and some smart alecs pointing out it "Was a goal", it's a pretty solid consensus.

Yea, the fact the better team won takes a bit of the sting out of it for Finnish fans. They did have their moments and are still one of the favorites.

Why is this a poll? In ice hockey it shouldn't have been. But it was anyway. This poll doesn't change anything. Only makes me tick.
...
There was an argument in the GDT for this game, so I made this to take this argument out, and to get peoples opinion. That is why there is a poll.

IMO shouldn't have counted for two reasons. First, the Canadian player kicked the goalies pad dislodging the puck. Secondly the Canadian knocked the net off with his own momentum and the puck wasn't in yet.

Horrible call all round.

There were far bigger arguments over other things in the thread. This play more or less was agreed upon. (The poll numbers reflect that) The second goal was a more interesting debate.

Apparently the powers that be(real hockey people) saw it differently and made the right decision.

You mean the one where finlands defense took chloroform and passed out and let Canada score?

I'm not even looking at it from a "was the net off or not" point of view. Regardless of that, the player's skate made contact with the goalie's pad to dislodge the puck. It should be no goal because of goalie interference.

Why did it count then? Your statement sounds like the lady watching the parade and says " Look everyone is out of step but my Johnny". TSN guys weren't anymore sure about the goal than fans but they agreed when it was called. Good goal.:hockey:

Except IIHF admitted the ref made a mistake...
I don't think so. The results of the game are final. Canada won without diving and played a decent first game. They had there let downs against another skilled squad but came out on the winning end. No amount of talking about it will change the out come. Personally I think Canada was the better of the two teams in this game overall. Both teams had sloppy moments.

They did as has already been mentioned. The result won't change but they'll discuss the matter in today's conference as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the ref was pulled from officiating more important games, if not altogether from the tournament.

Probably, but both teams played way under their talent levels.
Expected a lot more from last nights game, but I guess it was the 1st real game for both teams and lot of Finns are having to adjust to rink explains it somewhat.

Was mad at the time, but it was the 1st game and now have to beat the rest, don't want to face Sweden in the elimination round.
