What are the odds he makes Washington next season at some point? Is he going to replace burakovsky on the top 6 ?

Our Gm has said its likely Vrana will not be with the team full time but likely will be a top injury call up. Although will a real solid camp I guess its possible he could make the team.

As far as Burakovsky I'd expect a breakout year from him and for him to be a top 6 winger all season. Caps brass is very high on both players.

GMBM doesn't seem to want to pencil Vrana into the opening day roster. Can't say I blame him, as the Capitals are in contention mode. If he has an awesome pre-season, then maybe he makes the team (but presumably in a depth role). He will hopefully get at least a cup of coffee at some point during the season.

Replacing Burakovsky is tremendously unlikely. Burt broke out in the 2nd half of last season, and really proved he can handle himself in the NHL. It's possible Washington goes with a more "top 9" approach than a "top six" and that any number of shuffles could see Burt "lower" in the line-up as a result, but beyond that I'd be very surprised if Vrana is playing above Burakovsky.

I wouldn't think there will be much separation between Vrana with Ehlers and Nylander in the not too distant future. This kid is very talented.

Wow, that's some high praise.

He's got many of the attributes of those 2. Speed, high level of skill, a good shot. In terms of motor I would put him closer to Ehlers. 2 guys that are hard on the puck. There is a lot to like about this player. All I know from watching him at the AHL last year, he was very noticable each shift, for the good.

He's still officially listed as a rookie, and this makes him a NHL prospect.

I think he is going to have a very good year. He's long been on my radar as a terrifically skilled player.

Maybe he's forgotten a little here, but I think he will make an impact in the Calder race this season.

I think it's because he's taken his time to get to the NHL and there were rumours of him being in Barry Trotz's doghouse because of attitude issues. I agree the talent is there but Trotz doesn't just hand it to rookies, he is going to have to earn it this year like Kuznetsov and then Burakovsky did. I think this year will be a bit tumultuous then he will find his stride next year
