Remembering Better Times

Since this is literally the worst season in Preds history I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we remember better, more fun times.

For no reason that I can fathom,
just now I remembered the times the whole arena was united in chanting "Chelios is a sissy"

Looking back, the years before the Cup run, when the building was filled with non corporate fans was the Golden Age of Preds fandom to me..

Please, share your memories, I think we all need reminders that it wasn't always this bad..

I had Chelios and Yzerman in the box from that game as my screen saver so long it bled into the screen. That was an awesome game.

I have a few that get me through this:

1) The goal scored 3 minutes after 1 AM against San Jose in triple OT
2) The win against the Wings at home in our first playoff series. I've NEVER felt the arena shake like that.
3) Wallet's goal against the Senators Dec 30 of...2002? Maybe 2003. Anyway, it was special. All 4500 of us were cheering like crazy!
4) Getting past the third round in the most unlikely way possible. Basically that whole post season except the final game.
There are others but I have to go to the game!

Stanley Cup Final Game 3. It was louder in the arena pregame than most other games I had been too.

Yeah that first playoff win I had never heard anything like that and I've been to NASCAR races.

I'm sure it was pretty crazy in 2017 as well but I couldn't afford to go to those so I can't really compare.

I was at that game. I had a training class in Pigeon Forge the next morning. I stayed for the whole game, then drove 3+ hours to Pigeon Forge (and remembered on the drive that it’s an hour ahead in the eastern time zone) and checked into the hotel at like 5:30am. Class started at 7. Worth it.

I looked up the box score on that Ottawa game @Adz. It was 2002. Mike Fisher, Shane Hnidy and Radek Bonk were all on that Ottawa squad. And there was a line brawl with 19 seconds left when your man 32 fought future Captain Fisher

Feels like I'm piling on, but Legwand's goal in that first playoff win over Detroit. Felt like a minor earthquake hit the arena.


Also Tootoo's first game was pretty special, the contingent from Nunavut that was there, during stoppages some of them were running up and down the stairs waiving their flags.

Peter Forsberg’s (not Filip)1st goal as a Pred. Overtime winner vs Detroit on a behind the back pass from Kariya. It was regular season but had playoff electricity

1) The entire cup run
2) Kunin’s double overtime game winning goal against Carolina in the playoffs (because I was there with my wife and kids)
3)Craig Smith game 2 OT goal against the Stars (because I was there with my wife)

I should also add our first experience at the Bridge in 2012 wearing our Thrashers Jerseys. They beat the Redwings in that game, but the most memorable thing was the cool atmosphere and the people we met. I was already a Preds fan, but I was hooked after that experience.

Just seeing Foppa in gold skating out for pregame where we all gathered down by the glass.

First game as an OG season tix holder.

Grabbing the First Tennessee (or whatever sponsor) Predator flying blimp thingy whenever the batteries died and taking all the "free" food certificates it was supposed to drop.

Drinking for free in the old bar in the arena tower because one of the bartenders owed me big time for fixing a situation for her.

Preds first home PO win (obviously).

Laughing at the dude in the ugly leather jacket that sat in front of us several times season 1. It was Vince Gill...oops.

Grabbing the First Tennessee (or whatever sponsor) Predator flying blimp thingy whenever the batteries died and taking all the "free" food certificates it was supposed to drop.

Drinking for free in the old bar in the arena tower because one of the bartenders owed me big time for fixing a situation for her.

Preds first home PO win (obviously).

Laughing at the dude in the ugly leather jacket that sat in front of us several times season 1. It was Vince Gill...oops.

It died right next to my seats!
