I can’t seem to find any information online for this and apologize in advance if it’s a simple answer, are players incentivized to play and win at all? I’m also curious (if cash is involved) if players are actually playing for national pride or if a paycheque weighs in at all

According to this, the players will receive money for appearing and the actual dollar amount has yet to be finalized (though the article is a few months old). It does not answer the question of whether it’ll be a flat appearance fee or if there’s prize money involved, however.
