I am talking about what a GM would do on draft day. Caufield went 15th when he should have been top 5. Benson went 13th. Dach went 3rd and would likely go well into the top 10 in most drafts. Benson may turn out to be better than Kirby but it is highly unlikely he would go before Dach if they were in the same draft.
No way should Caufield have gone top 5.

Hughes
Seider
Zegras
Cozens
Byram
Boldy

I might take Kakko over him as well, much better all around player. There are a few others who Caufield would be competing with.

Not with what we've seen from him in the NHL so far...

Kakko? Really?

At the time of the draft CC went pretty much where he was slotted.

Even with hindsight I doubt he would go top 5.

Also these 6 guys for sure.

Good for him to make the big club. That's not easy to do in the NHL as an underdeveloped teenager. Really impressed with how well he played in traffic. Always be room in this league for guys who go hard in the paint.

Seems like the kind of kid who can play up and down the lineup so it will be interesting to see where he starts out tomorrow night. I'll bet he gets some PP time as well especially if he's having a good showing.

Hugues, Seider, totally. They're #1 and #2.

After that, it all remains to be seen. Let's wait 2 more years to see Caufield play a couple of full seasons and then it'll be more clear.

Caufield was heading to a 64pts season, which is in the same area as Zegras, Cozens and Boldy, while scoring at a 46 goal pace.

Now, if we talk about Benson, I think he'll be a more valuable player than Caufield. He was my pick for the Habs at 5 and as much as I have fate in Reinbacher to become a top3 Dman, I'm pretty mad we didn't pick Benson.

Sounds like he'll be on a line with Greenway and Mittelstadt

I like it. It'll likely be a middle 6 line most nights. Really, really strong defensive line with some scoring chops.

Jeez thats a bad take. Zegras over Caufield and then you say you'd take Kakko ? No coherence.
Most people outside of Montreal have zegras over caufield sorry friend

As for benson…. Embarrassing he fell to Buffalo…. Buffalo just has an absurd amount of riches in the nhl and coming

Has Mitts evolved into a stronf defensive presence? I havent followed his development at all in the ladt four years.
