I noticed that in practice, Benson has been on the 3rd line, not the 1st line as he was in the pre-season. Also, no PP time. Does that mean anything as far as what the plans for him are for this year?

That’s pretty standard. The guys on the big contracts get top line and PP minutes. Benson will have to earn that spot and I doubt he’ll be able to do that this year. A lot of talent in front of him.

2nd and 3rd lines are interchangeable, it will depend on which one is going better that game. He's been playing the bumper on PP2 so I would expect him to remain there.

Granato doesn't mind changing lines to get a spark so it isn't out of the question that Benson and Tuch could swap spots for a few shifts or a period

Seems like the kind of kid who can play up and down the lineup so it will be interesting to see where he starts out tomorrow night. I'll bet he gets some PP time as well especially if he's having a good showing.
I'd think he would start on the 2nd line with Cozens and Peterka but who knows where he will end up.

Good first period performance marred somewhat by the hooking penalty that the Rangers capitalized on quickly. For the most part Benson was doing Benson things, but it was nice to see him get up in Trouba's business when Trouba started getting physical.

Let’s take a look at hat hooking penalty…

clear holding the stick call the other way…but refs…. In no way a hooking call. His stick is flat out hand closed grabbed by Fox and he got the penalty for it

No argument here. May have looked like a hook out of the corner of the ref's eye, but not an actual hook.

Looks like he belongs. Obviously he’d benefit from getting a little faster and stronger (like any 18 year old) but Benson is easily keeping up with the play and he’s not physically overmatched either. He’s playing his game.
Looks like he belongs , which is surprising for his age , what a beauty

How did you guys do this,

He's such an enormous talent. He was my #2 choice for the Habs after Michkov. They passed on both. Might turn out to be a mistake. Who knows for sure. But I said before the draft that this kid will will himself into a NHL star. I also said he'd play in the show first year. He's that good and that relentless and determined. I'm jealous. Although I feel a lot better after the superlative camp Reinbacher had...

Nice job drawing the interference penalty near the end of the 2nd to offset the one he took earlier. Now to see if the PP can get the job done for Buffalo....

No, sorry that’s hooking. He also took another penalty not called. He had a rough first game.

You can be a fan of him, and be truthful about that.
