What do you guys think as NHL comparable? Ranging somewhere between a Gallagher to a Marchand/Point type of player? I think he's really skilled, high compete level, type of player that will be a key component to any championship team. I don't think his height will be an issue in the league, not at 5ft10.

Gally and Marchand are exceptionally physical for their size, that’s not really Benson. He’s a hard working, high compete player, but he’s not much of a hitter, doesn’t have the edge/nastiness that Gally/Marchand have. A winger version of Point is a pretty good comp though, I’d put his upside somewhere around there. Also plays a bit like a less flashy Marner.

I see a lot of Jaden Schwartz in him.

I see Marchand, without the dickishness. Benson’s got some swagger though, so I don’t think it’s outside of his bag of talents to develop a nasty side of his game.

There's a pretty massive swing in expectations between Marchand and Schwartz.
He's a pre-draft prospect, nobody can really say with certainty how good he's gonna be. Jaden-Schwartz-esque is a possibility, so is winger-Brayden-Point-esque, so is a career bottom 6er, so is a career AHLer, so is rich man's Marner, etc.

Also, Jaden Schwartz has dropped off a bit, but he had 5 seasons with 55-63 points, including a near PPG season (59 points in 62 games in 2017/18). At his best he was a top 3 forward on a good Blues team, he's not some scrub. Pretty much anyone but the most elite prospects (a solid/"legit" 1OA pick, or guys on that level like Eichel, Fantilli, Malkin, Seguin, etc.) has a decent chance to end up Schwartz level or worse. Or even guys who are seen as quality 1OA picks sometimes fail to hit that level, for example Laf might never get there.

He's nothing like Gallagher from what I've seen - Gallagher was basically a grinder who would outwork and hustle his way to scoring chances. He had a good IQ in the offensive zone but I don't think anyone would ever call him a "high skill" player.

Benson has a lot more offensive ability and can create from that not just his willingness to work hard and go to the rough areas. Not saying he will be better than Gallagher for sure because gally was definitely a very good player in his prime, but the styles are different

My guess is we will see him return in round 2. Just my feeling. I think if this previous round was Round 3 he may have been back already. No sense rushing him back when you were gonna breeze round 1 and now you’ll have an extra week to rest and heal.

What was the injury more specifically?

Anyone else see a more skilled, but less speedy version of Viktor Arvidsson? Can't get that comparison out of my head.

Totally agree. He has been week to week for several weeks now. The ICE swept MH without him so there was clearly no urgency to rushing him back into action.

No one seems to know what specifically is injured. A separated shoulder? Broken collarbone?

Is he skating with the team? Why do some think he will be back next round?

There’s no coverage of the team here and the team doesn’t release this info unfortunately. Shoulder likely
