Sir as I stated several times. He has already started to bounce back. If you take the time to watch his last 35 games you will see he is healthy and his shot is back. Until you watch him you can't argue. I get it you want him bad and you don't want to give up anything for him. Doesn't everyone want that. The reality is he has good value and that's it.

On Wednesday, The Athletic surveyed a handful of NHL general managers, who confirmed that Armstrong has quietly been shopping Tarasenko for a while. Those GMs were aware of his availability but are not interested. It’s a small sample but could be a glimpse of the difficulty the Blues can expect in trying to move him.

Montreal could definitely use a left shot winger, especially one with Tarasenko's upside.

And lets be real, the one think Montreal has shown these playoffs is that they really need a forward with game breaking offensive potential. And there really isn't a way to get one without risk.

I don't buy the Drouin has negative value crap (assuming he's back in the NHL), but you got to take a shot that Tarasenko can rebound.

Montreal of course needs a players like that. Tarasenko is a RW. We have plenty of RW especially with Caufield.

the question is why would Montreal double down on the wrong position just to move Drouin? Both players on question marks... why move assets and cap for a player you don’t need? Not only not need, your not even sure he’s the player he once was, and making that trade then restricts you from upgrading your team .

Habs need offence I rather see what Drouin can do than make this trade. It’s not complicated, it’s a sunk cost fallacy to add to Drouin for a “possible” marginal upgrade.

LW left hand shot is the need. Just doesn’t make any sense.

It's amazing watching all the negativity on here. I'm not sure if people are trying to convince Blues fans or themselves that Tarasenko is washed up (all in the hopes that they can get said player for scraps). Either way, it amazes me that this thread is 18 pages in after only getting started late last night on a "washed up" player. Our GM is not stupid. Tarasenko certainly won't get what we would have garnered two years ago, but DA will get a good return on Tank or he'll just not trade him. There's absolutely no upside to getting rid of Tarasenko for a crap return. The team would be better served keeping him because, as actual fans of the team who watch them have stated, Tank has been back for a while and has shown improvement. As for those claiming the team always takes a loss when a player wants out, that simply isn't true and relies on the circumstances. If it's true that he wants out, he has no leverage at all with two years left on his contract. If this were January of his last year it'd be a different story, but he's got a ways to go. If he truly wants out then he will be the one who has to loosen his NTC list of teams if he wants Army to get the best shot at moving him. He also can't simply quit playing because that hurts his next contract, one where he will most assuredly be looking for as much term as he can get.

They are both distressed assets. One of them has proven when healthy he is an elite sniper. The other when healthy has been a middle 6 guy.

Drouin's career high in points is 53. Tarasenko has never failed to break 65 points when healthy. It's laughable you try to compare the two players in terms of current value.

It would take Tarasenko flopping AND either the late first or above average prospect turning to gold for the Habs to lose that proposed deal. The odds of that are quite long
Bet you thought the Bobby Ryan trade would work out for Ottawa

Wait doesn't he lose trade value because requesting a trade equals decreasing value? Or is that just jack eichel

Yeah is Dobson and a pick coming back too.

We are not taking deadweight and bad players for tarasenko unless good assets come back.

Isles are not trading away 21 yr old Dobson on his ELC, for a player who has had 3 shoulder surgeries and is 2 yrs from unrestricted free agency.

Blues best option might be to hold off trading Taransenko. Let him start the season in St Louis. Produce on the ice, show teams he has no lingering effects from the shoulder issues.

From what tweets I have read, it's a weak Taransenko trade market at this point.

I have watched him. He is not "back" in any meaningful way. Prime Tarasenko was one of the best forwards in the NHL and he has not been close to that in a while. And I honestly don't want him that badly, but Montreal seems to have a thing for ex-Blues and Russians tend to be cool with playing in Montreal.

The only reason you assume some on here "don't want to give up anything for him" is because you seem to be assuming guys being proposed have no value. But then assign significant value to a guy that has played 34 regular season games the past two seasons.

Hell, you're the one suggesting futures packages which kind of flies in the face of comments made by Armstrong and Stillman.
So you watched him play the playoffs and international and you are saying he is not back. I'm sorry but you sir are a fiber. If you actually watched him you woukd know his shot velocity is back his skating is on par. His physical and 200 ft game are on par. The only thing off right now is his accuracy. Go a head look up some articles of Russia playing international he was touted ad one of the best players out there. He will take some time to warm up again but he is healthy. I get you want something g for nothing it just isn't happening. Sorry Charlie

He is also healthy and nor injured. Had 2 goals in 4 playoff games tore it up in international but nobody wants to talk about that they just want to beat the drum of damaged goods. Then say he would be awesome for my team. But he is damaged so we give you poop you take it. Lol
GMs and their scouts watched the playoffs and yet when St Louis called to shop Taransenko, it turns out to be a weak market according to the press.
It's not fans who need convincing but rival GMs.

If you Rea further you would see what a realistic offer would be from islanders

For tarasenko

If that's to much then not sure what to tell you. Fyi all the fans have been clamoring for him in this thread they just want him for free. That's not happening and if he does get traded at next year in season just know the price will jump .

The "weak market" for Tarasenko probably has more to do with the expansion draft. A team taking him on would then need to protect him. Let's not pretend this is a business as usual offseason.

Montreal needs left shot wingers. Especially if Drouin wont be coming back to Montreal. Their top 4 wingers are all right handed.

the question is why would Montreal double down on the wrong position just to move Drouin? Both players on question marks... why move assets and cap for a player you don’t need? Not only not need, your not even sure he’s the player he once was, and making that trade then restricts you from upgrading your team .

Because while the odds of Tarasenko bouncing back to what he was is slim, I personally would bet he'll be better than Drouin. And I'm not saying moving Guhle+1st or something like that.

Habs need offence I rather see what Drouin can do than make this trade. It’s not complicated, it’s a sunk cost fallacy to add to Drouin for a “possible” marginal upgrade.

I have no idea how the Drouin situation will resolve, but I'm skeptical that Drouin will ever wear a Habs jersey again. And if the resolution in that scenario is a trade (and not the expansion draft or a mutual contract termination), then a fresh start trade is the compassionate move.

You're welcome to disagree, but you don't really have a leg to stand on. Especially when you consistently call players you clearly haven't watched "nothing".

Blues have liked Drouin in past. This could have legs.

He's got a bad reputation as a soft/skilled winger but personally, I think his biggest issue is he's in Montreal and he was one of several soft wingers and the spin offs from that were exaggerated. Habs do that to their own players all the time and we always have some on target. Gallagher is next. Wait for it.

Drouin to me can help the PP but I can't stress it enough. He needs to be with a physical center and a overall physical group of forwards with little soft wingers. Think Jets... Ehlers with the big boys. Drouin is not as good but similar situation. I think he has more to give but you got to live with his soft style to some degree. He's not the only one in the NHL.

Habs are going to look to move him and find a good spot for him as well. I feel like that will be at play. We might try to add a pick to get Seattle to take him as the 1st approach.

If he can bounce back from his injuries, he’s on a pretty great contract. No idea what his trade value would be currently, but someone could be getting a pretty great player. Excited to see where this one goes.

It doesn't. Isles would definitely protect him if a trade happened and it wouldn't be a problem.

The Isles is one team. DA shopping Tarasenko and not getting a deal made before expansion means jack. Most teams are in a position where they must wait for the expansion to happen before taking on more players to protect. If Tarasenko were traded for a draft pick and prospect that is not expansion eligible then that would mean the team taking Tarasenko would need to use a spot they were holding for another player to keep him. My point is....an article claiming there was no interest is misleading and there are way too many variables in play to simply state there is no interest.

He's a left handed shot that likes to play RW. I'm sure we can figure that out and both Anderson and Toffoli have played LW for us this past year. Especially Toffoli.

I see no issues and we can use a left handed shot/one timer on our PP. This makes more sense than you think unless you think you can get a better options? Like a guy with size, is strong on the puck and has a good shot? Easy to fine eh?

Yeah, he's not back at all. He doesn't nearly have the offensive zone confidence or strength he once had. He doesn't drive the play like he used to. He's doesn't have the conditioning to battle like he used to. He might get it back given a full offseason + training camp of training, but last season's Tarasenko is a shadow of who he was 3 years ago and everyone around the league knows it.
