I know this board is full of drama queens, but maybe they’ll dodge a bullet by trading one

May be what we’re headed towards. Would be a shame.

I posted about it before the season started, the Rangers need to hire and bring in mentors for their kids. My post was related to Chytil, but the same applies to Kravstov.

You’re still dealing with teenagers, especially for a foreign country. The Rangers need a better support infrastructure for them.

there’s more to hockey than practice and games. I’m not confident about how this management staff is handling the life aspects of bringing these kids up.

They need mentors that can help them along the way.

Yeesh. This is really turning into quite a soap opera. But have we heard anything substantial from VK? I mean, so far I’d chalk this up to speculation. But maybe I’m missing something.

Can anybody translate?

He was asked how was his flight back home. He replied on positive emotions, since he hasn't been home for some time. Everything in Chelyabinsk is dear to him. Then they asked about future plans for next few years, he said to win, to score. (From what I can understand)

He seemed so humble at the draft. I don't get any of this. There is certainly a cultural element. Don't know how much his family being wealthy plays into this. Don't matter.

I hope, it's simply: "I'd rather play at home, if there is no spot on the Rangers". Regardless of which league being better for his development. (imo a wash)

Kid is super young and might move to the States for 15-20 years, who knows maybe for ever. Enjoy another season at home. The big club will most definitely have a spot next year.

Look at it this way. Kravstov might just be stapled to any 1st line Traktor has. That's some good experience. He should be expected to carry the team offensively.

I wonder how much of it was on ice and how much off. I mean, it could be as simple as he was utterly miserable and alone in HFD.

I mean, you’d like to think Shesty and Rykov could help with that (actually... that’s presuming Rykov is there—do we know where he is?), but there’s a pretty big difference between 19 and 22-24, and you can’t force people to be friends just based on speaking the same language.

Eh, I feel like this is a bit of an overreaction too

One thing’s for sure, they definitely need to have Bobrov over there meeting him for dinner and staying in personal communication all this season while he’s over there. Probably wouldn’t hurt to have Panarin give him the occasional call as well.

It's certainly possible there was miscommunication. However the Rangers have beefed up their Hockey Ops and Player Development departments in the past few years. Glass and Ruutu were the last two adds, IIRC. I would take issue with the suggestion that we don't have an infrastructure in place to help the younger guys develop. And that's just on the personnel side. I know Buchnevich said he had issues communicating with AV, but that didn't seem like an issue unique to Buchnevich.

IDK. I don't necessarily like the personnel decisions with the young kids, but I don't think there is any systemic issue with the organization preventing young guys from succeeding.

It feels like the Rangers we’re trying to treat him with kids gloves already and now everyone’s solution seems to be ‘get softer gloves.’

And you just know that if he made the NHL people would be calling for him to get sent to the AHL at this point

And again, to my point on miscommunication--I'm sure miscommunications happen from time to time. You have teenagers, often from different cultures, trying to integrate into a new city and/or country and organization. It's bound to happen. Everyone is going crazy over the heart rate monitoring. I'd bet the farm there was a miscommunication there. Which sucks, but again, it can happen. Generally it's realized and clarified. I don't think Krav stuck around long enough for everything to be fully understood in the way it was intended. Hopefully they can clarify these things to him now, whether through his agent or some other channel.

Wouldn't it also be a move to show that he is behind his current team, not his future team? I don't see it as THAT large of a deal and many people are reading too far into this. We'll see him again.

Feels to me like he's a spoiled kid. He expected to make the NHL out of camp and when things didn't go as planned, he decided he would rather go home and be in a comfortable situation where he is more loved and appreciated, then sticking it out in a league that will be 10x better for his development as an NHL prospect.

I don't think thats an overreaction or exaggeration of whats going on here.

Meh I thought he'd be better than a 40 point guy. Not a star player, but maybe someone who could put up 60 points. I saw a lot of creativity initially. That was knocked out of him pretty fast. I also plenty of weaknesses, which never improved. He's just a borderline NHL'er (regardless of the numbers he'll put up playing with Z & Panarin). With better development he'd be a better player.
A better than 40 point guy who could maybe put up 60 points? That's pretty much exactly what he is. He's a support winger with a lot of skill who should be a PP2 guy on a good team and will be a good middle six winger who can play effectively with skilled players.

His weaknesses definitely improved. He's far more strong on the puck now than when he first came over, he wins more board battles, he's more physical and he's definitely stronger on his feet with better balance. He's WAY better than he was when he first came over.

He is absolutely not a borderline NHLer, implying that is just disingenuous in trying to make your point.

But without all of the data how wouldn't this be an overreaction? We are all formulating conclusions without all of the data. The organization hasn't seemed to be disappointed with this decision as they let him go...

Not really. I mean, you can post photos of your current team. It's not one or the other. It's not like you have a weekly limit of 10 photos.. It might not be that large of a deal, but I highly doubt the logic was to show he is currently behind his new team. It was a direct shot at his former team, big deal or not. Agreed, he'll be back eventually, whether he ends up on the team or not.

Didn’t he delete his Traktor pictures when he came over?

The AHL being “10x better for his development” is certainly an exaggeration. It might be better overall, but not that much. It’s not like playing in a higher quality league is going to stunt his development either.
