Who cares what Oliver Wahlstrom is doing? I do agree that they passed on a lot of guys to take Kravtsov. They better play him and let him get his feet wet. The Isles have everything clicking. That’s what great coaching does. One COVID shortened season DOESNt do it for me. It’s as if id be panic stricken that he’d be better than lafreniere, which I’m not.

I don’t give a shit about Wahlstrom. I think about our own players. The islanders in any case are a little thin on top talent. Their best forward Barzal is not as good as Panarin or Zibanejad when he’s on his game. We should keep in mind as well that the Islanders are really a veteran team committed to a defense first mentality.

Before commenting on Kravtsov too much I’d rather see how he fits in first. I expect him to get a shot at showing what he’s got. I kind of think we should see what he does with Chytil first.

Even though Philly is a mess, Farabee has been a home run for them and has had a great season. Now Wahlstrom is tearing it up. Praying Kravtsov can make an impact.

I don’t get how comparing him to the 2 guys a lot of Rangers fans wanted to draft, who were taken by rival teams almost directly afterwards is “unfair”. It’s not like we’re blaming Vitaly

We all want Kravtsov to succeed but whether he does or not it's fair to compare the players picked right after him especially when those players were collectively ranked higher and the Rangers went off the board with the pick.

2018 NHL Entry Draft Picks at hockeydb.com

That’s right. It was early for the Brendls etc prospects for a long while too. The link to those drafts results are similar and although i like Krav i think we all want the link to look different.

Yeah unfortunately very predictable. And Howden isn't even back. I mean best best for better or worse is Howden slots in for Lemieux or Blackwell and Gauthier is benched because the coach doesn't like the penalty he took. And Kravtsov gets a shot on the third line. I just don't wanna see him thrown onto the 4th line with zero pp time.

NYR: Errr...sorry...no line up changes after big wins....errr...

And...here is the full quote from Quinn on Kravtsov. Just stunning that they haven't discussed his arrival or put a plan together. Kid just shows up at the rink with his sticks.

“I literally just said hi to (Kravtsov) this morning for the first time,” Quinn said. “We’ve got so much going on here. We haven’t talked in-depth yet about what the plan is. The plan is for him to continue to practice and when we feel he can help we’ll get him in there.”

Fuel on the fire that the organization is not on top of the development of their top prospects. I mean that full quote is about as bad as initially feared.

I don't care that they want him to get practice reps and that the coaching staff needs to get comfortable before inserting him into the lineup...that makes 100% sense. However what that reveals about the preparation and priorities of the organization, especially the coaching staff, is extremely concerning.

He has been in the country for 2 weeks now. They do Zoom calls all the time. I don't get why they didn't set some up with kravtsov then. I didn't expect him to play right away like you said, that makes sense 100%. But it's not as if the team was unaware he was coming over.

As it was written in the Athletic, it was more that Quinn has not been to the rink, since he's been isolated, and wanted to see how he looked in practices firsthand before making any firm decisions on when to insert him into the lineup--which itself I don't think is totally unreasonable.

I think everyone is reading way too much into the quote. Quinn always plays coy about his plans anyway, even if he had spoken to his coaches and made a full determination on exactly when and where Kravtsov was going into the lineup, he wouldn't say it. He'd say something just like you said here, which amounts to, "IDK we'll see." That's just how he/they operate.

This season has been shit and I think people are rightfully pissed off at a great number of things--including the coach--but this all seems like an overreaction.

I mean he literally said, "We’ve got so much going on here. We haven’t talked in-depth yet about what the plan is." Maybe that was an attempt at a political non-answer, if so it was a very poor choice of words.

As I said I don't care about him not going right into the lineup...at all. That makes perfect sense. Especially given that Quinn hasn't been at practice. But we know Quinn has been speaking regularly with the rest of the staff while he was out...there is no way to justify not having a discussion at this point, almost 2 weeks after Kravtsov arrived in the US.

Not talking "in-depth" doesn't mean they haven't had any meaningful conversation. The conversation could be, hey, lot going on with the coaches being juggled all around, hang tight, I'll be back soon, once I can watch you in practice we can make a full determination on when you play. Not an in-depth conversation, but covers plenty. Just an example. IDK. I think people hate Quinn and think we do a shit job developing and communicating (this may or may not apply to you, I don't know) and therefore want this to be representative of everything they think is wrong with the organization.

I feel like the organization has been gearing up for his arrival for sometime. It would seem quite unusual if after fielding questions about him coming and when he would play for basically the whole year, that they basically had no plan. Look maybe Quinn is lost, I don't know, but JD, Gorton, Drury, those guys aren't clueless, they would have a plan.

I would highly, highly doubt that there is not a plan. And I would also doubt that Quinn is running the whole show like a dictator. I believe that all, especially when it comes to handling of the prospects, is done in lockstep with Gorton & JD.

Look I would hope so and want to believe that. If that was the case I would think you would say something indicating that while still giving the (fair) non-answer of not knowing when it’s gonna make sense to get him in. It could just be bad communication.

I think Quinn's method of communicating with the press is pretty calculated and very intentional. He can say twenty sentences that amount to basically nothing. I think that's just his thing. It's "bad" for us as fans--and would be bad if he communicated that way with players--but I don't think it really matters in the grand scheme of things if it's just how he talks to the media. Which, again, hopefully is where the non-communication is limited to.

I can’t stand Quinn, think management have been awful at handling our prospects, etc. But given the disaster that was Krav’s 2019-20 season, I’d bet the Rangers are treading a lot more carefully this go-around.

I’m sure the Quinn quote is just taken out of context. I hope so, at least!
