From what I have gathered, by skimming through the thread, seems like most are against majority of the names out there due to rental/contract is bad? Maybe Cozens/Byfield are the exceptions.

I personally would like to see them get a player with 3-4 years left on their contract that's going to help them win/make a difference while 34 is under contract. I have zero to little interest in the rental market.

What's the path or offer to get Byfield

The Schenn ask is asinine. If we are putting that big of a package together it needs to be for someone younger without that odious contract.

Danforth and a 1st for Parayko? Trade a 2nd for Jake Evans or equivalent Center. Really adds to the lineup and helps the pk.

I like schenn, but not at that price.

Byfield would be an amazing get.

I received the following response from John Hoven of the influential LA Kings blog Mayor’s Manor: “There are three people that are not being traded… Byfield, (Brandt) Clarke, Laffy (Alex Laferriere). That’s from the best sources I have…LA certainly can’t control outside teams calling and asking about players. However, that does not mean a player is available. As you know, two totally different things. The Kings have zero interest in trading the three I mentioned. They view them as three of the core they’re building around.”

Didn't think it was possible.

Armstrong probably wants McDavid for parayko if his idiotic ask for Schenn is that high. Any gm that pays that much for Schenn should be paraded in their city and flogged.

I think many here are in agreement on this.

Makes sense.

Pump your breaks

Jesus people. Be cool. The cynicism is off the charts.

I think a few of you are ready to start a "Leafs should tank" thread.

We hear about players and prices, but we don't know anything. At least let the deadline, season, and playoffs play out before you declare that Treliving has ruined this team. Last year Toronto couldn't get past a mediocre Boston team. Treliving did not give up the farm at the deadline.

We can't make these judgements yet...

So does HFLeafs have a consensus on what forward should Toronto be trading for? That's available at the deadline.

Nah... there will never be a consensus, too many varied opinions, and that's pretty healthy for discussion. Tre does have a fascination with kicking the tires on big names though... and often doing very little.

Because Maple Leafs fans buy the media hype time and time again. This guy is going to make basically the reported number for JT extension and term!! And and and we need to pay a 1st and a prospect for this?!

No freaking wayyyy. Get your shit together Leafs Nation lol

Schenn v JT same cap. Just sign JT and move on with life. If Schenn also gets rid of dead weight, maybe a deal
The prices are way too high

He's going to get 8x7 IMO. I doubt we'll be able to manage that given JT's apparent $7M plus whatever we add at the TDL. Of course if Marner walks then we'll have a lot more room.
With the cap rising, I would think someone will pay him more than 7, although he may be happy just to stay put and take a lower tax free number.

Colton Parayko's name keeps coming up here and in the hockey media.

Don't get your hopes up. What is the likelihood that STL would part with him? Not every GM does the Tim Murray mega tank style team gutting. At the end of the day you want your team to compete again. Not just be bad for 15 years.

A really significant player would have to go to STL plus a few picks, prospects. Something like Knies, Cowan, a 1st, and a 2nd might get you close.

8M x 7Y is his floor IMO. Whether or not that makes sense for us to do that I'm not sure. I'd love him, but that's a big commitment for a guy who is likely to decline sharply early 30s.

AFP analytics projects Bennett to get 6 x 6.3

PHI could just draw a hard line on Laughton at a 1st and keep him if they don't get it, but it seems like the offers they'd get will be in the 2nd+ range. They apparently declined a 2nd from PHI.

I still think a 2nd and maybe a couple solid, but unspectular, previous regime picks would be a fine deadline deal.

He's a more legitimate third line addition than other names I've seen, and this beats everything about this B. Schenn crap - which may be the worst idea of our competitive era as it's being reported.

The player that's 6 years younger, puts up better production in the playoffs and provides a physical element that very few in the league can match.

Except it would be more realistic to evaluate something like this: JT @ 100% vs Bennett @ 10%. Would you rather take the surefire base hit with JT or go for a double or triple with Bennett and risk losing JT in free agency.
