I was looking at team stats today and the Rangers are 11th best in goals given up per game with a 2.67. We’re the 8th best team in shots against per game and have the second best penalty kill in the league and this despite some iffy goaltending since the beginning of the year. There is much more attention to detail this year. Maybe a lot of this is due to Jacques Martin but the Rangers are not going to have their guys being passengers on their two way play. The last couple years we’ve been pretty poor at this and this year’s been a big step forward and besides the Devils and Sabres we’re not playing easy teams.

If anything our offense has let us down at times—our inexperience and youth has been an issue with chasing games and our goalies too often been shaky. This is the team that Kravtsov will be joining shortly. He will have to do grunt work too or at least sometimes. He will have to check. Everyone does. If he can get some chemistry going with Chytil before the season ends that would be just about the best case scenario IMO.

His plane left 5 AM EST (2 PM local) and he landed at 5 PM EST. That's a long-ass flight. I've been on those 12-hour flights from Vienna to Seattle. It really f***s you up.

But he can relax now. I hope he has his XBox set up for the next 10 days

Would be great if there is a squat rack along with that Xbox. And plenty of beefcake weight gain 4000

Couple things. I don’t think Kravtsov is ready yet to play in the top 6, which is fine. I am trying to keep expectations low so that I can be pleasantly surprised if he somehow is ready. I also think his defensive game is good enough to play in the bottom 6, which should help him stay in the lineup if and when he does make it.

Also, if it comes down to Blackwell vs. Kravtsov in the top 9 (unless Kravtsov is clearly struggling), and both are playing at about the same level, I am not going to necessarily blame Quinn for going with familiarity. This is on GORTON. If he wants these players to develop, good. But if the main goal is winning, and development is secondary, Quinn is kind of in a bad spot. I may be missing something, but if Quinn thinks he’s on the hot seat if they lose the next few games, he’s obviously going to try to win at the expense of development. Gorton needs to communicate to Quinn, if he hasn’t already, that winning isn’t as important as the future. If he doesn’t communicate, or if he communicates that he wants the team to win above everything else, then HE should be fired, not Quinn.

The standings should have already communicated this. I think our chances of making it is probably around 5% now

I honestly don’t know what you’re arguing. You’re insisting on keeping Buchnevich despite his replacements knocking on the door. Well, this is what the lineup looks like when they all here.
I am saying that without him, the right side looks very barren. I have also said that I am not sure that Kravstsov is long for the franchise and nowhere did I say that he is a replacement for Buchnevich. We all hope he is, but at best that is years away.

I do not believe that the lineup as posted will be something that the team will hit the future with. I also believe that Gorton and JD are going to insert players that will diversify the high end skill of those forwards. So eventually, yeah, I expect changes to be made.

wait are we getting rid of our blossoming 1st line winger for a guy who hasn't played one NHL game? Count me INNN!!!!!-Islanders, Devils and Flyers fans

the best thing for Rangers and Kravtsov is to let him get top 6 minutes and if he looks out of place then adjust accordingly. he is coming from a men's pro league and had a good year in the KHL and playoffs. ride his momentum would be the smart thing to do for him long term in my opinion.
I’d like to see him get sheltered minutes with good linemates. but as long as he’s not getting sent out there to check the Crosbys and Bergerons, it should be fine. I don’t really count minutes with these guys. Gameflow will dictate that number. But as long as he’s getting appropriate type minutes he should be ok.

Assuming he plays 21 games (starting April 1 vs Buffalo)
I think he will put up a statline of 12-11-23
It'd be refreshing thats for sure...

My expectations were moderate-high for our #1 and #2 pick. They obviously didn't come any where close to them.

My expectations are 'meh' for Kravtsov at the moment. Not really because of him as a player, just demoralized with our kids production offensively. Hopefully he does come out blazin.

Kravtsov > Laf & Kakko
People will quote me in a couple years in awe!

I really hope Krav works out and is a huge difference maker for this team. Seeing Whalstrom score goals and play well really irks me. I remember that draft night really wanting a goal scorer like Oliver, only to be let down when we took some risky Russian who just had a random good playoff performance.

And then weren’t you relieved when in D+1 Wahlstrom couldn’t buy a goal in college and actually had to leave while Kravtsov had a pretty strong year in the KHL? What’s the moral?
