Greetings from BC! ...I'm visiting NYC next Friday March 25 to March 27. I tried to work on connections and stuff to get to Boston to watch a game but didn't work out. But then I thought I can go to Rangers game Friday night at MSG and then get to Boston for 12:30 game Saturday...there are flights available; trains too..Trains are 4 hour trips...planes are obviously quicker....any other thoughts or suggestions on travel? Thanks!

The Acela train isnt bad. Once you factor in getting into airport , through TSA, etc…
On the train you just get on. Once on you can get up and walk around.
It can be an interesting experience if youve never done it.

Do I need a reservation to get into Night Shift on a game day or can I stroll up at 5:30?

Depends how many people you’re with. More than 2, I’d probably make a reservation, at least until the patio is open.

Thanks for response...I booked a hotel room near Penn Station where I think train starts? In any event after a day of travelling not sure I want to get on a plane next morning so train would be the only option I think...would be a early train start departure for 12:30 game! oh...would have to find a single ticket too...lol

We are staying near Fanueli Hall and was wondering we have walked before to the game is it still safe to walk back from a Night Game.

The neighborhoods that walk brings you through (North End, Haymarket, past Government Center) are safe.

Yes it is. Many people walk to the Orang/Green Line stop at Haymarket where it is a little less congested. People also walk up to Government Center and some of the other garages.

You will be fine. I always give these tips to people when they are nervous about taking the train or walking while visiting the city is to

1. Know how to get back to where you are staying. Look at the map and any landmarks near where you are staying.
2. Walk confidently like you know where you are going
3. Walk with a group of people. I do this all the time even though I have lived here my entire life.

You got this! Have fun!!

That wouldnt be a problem..see how it goes if i can get there
It's actually a nice walk. You can take the shorter way straight through the financial district, but it will be dead on Saturday.

I recommend walking the Rose Kennedy Greenway instead, takes about 20 minutes. You pick it up in Dewey Square right at South Station and follow it almost all the way to TD Garden. You skirt right by the edge of the North End, and if you have a few extra minutes you can detour to the harborwalk around the aquarium for a great view and say hello to the seals and sea lions.

If you are bringing anything bigger than a pocketbook, you can't get it in to the game. No luggage, no backpacks. If you have either, I'd stop at the hotel first before heading to the Garden. Either that, or Sullivan's Tap, a true Boston dive bar across from the Garden on Canal St. off Causeway, will let you check bags for a small fee.
