Let's say they did these shoots for multiple players from each team. That would be anywhere from 2 to 5 players? At minimum, on the highly unlikely chance they managed to film each announcement in in single takes, that's 60 to 150 scenes filmed. That's a lot of filming.

Under normal circumstances, teams are fined for expressing interest in players under contract with other teams. I don't know what the situation is with expansion teams, but they are allowed to show interest in multiple players from each of the other teams, with the potential for it being leaked (as this one was), while having no actual intention of selecting that player?

The job of the media is to sell narratives, push fear, and tell us what we should think - not report on newsworthy events.

Do people actually know? Pretty sure the majority of people kind of expected McCann to be selected. They still don't know. But again the point isn't that this is huge, it's still news... and it's not being analyzed or even talked about in the Toronto market. I tried to find LeBrun or Johnston or Dreger or Friedman to mention something but they haven't yet.

I think the fact that it's on TSN means this is meant to stir up Toronto fanbase speculation more than Seattle fanbase speculation. I've heard Jim Tati on Leafs Lunch talk about how they filmed a few names from each team. Not sure if that's true either.
