Speculation: Video leak that Seattle has selected Kerfoot circulating twitter

Most people ? I would think most people would expect them to take the guy who puts up twice the points for 560k less cap . For the record I hope your right and they do take Kerplunk

This looks accurate. Put Marner with JT and with Mccan and Nylander on top line, thats two strong lines. One last shot with this core, then break it up if they fail again in first round

Dreger is warming up in the bullpen. He probably supplements his income quite well off of players agents he trumpets as the next offer sheet winner.

They don't want to lose any access to the Mighty Kraken it seems. That or the NHL told them to not discuss it. We can talk about offer sheets and what we think Marner's state of mind is while playing Monopoly...but don't go against the NHL media machine.

Also, we cannot be sure whether the leaked video is the actual pick. Yahoo for one, reported on the leaked video.

The general feeling t hat I have gotten is that most analysts expect Seattle to take Kerfoot or McCann, both fill a similar role and there is not a significant difference in cap hit, so it's unlikely that taking Kerfoot instead of McCann has any effect on what they think the rest of Seattle's picks will be. I guess there might be some who were thinking Dermott would be the pick who might go back and take a second look. But I'm not sure that there are any plans for either Sportsnet or TSN to update their analysis of who Seattle will take, so most may not care because they've already done the work they were asked for.

There is also the fact that while the guy who took the video claims they shot multiple takes with the "fish guy" saying Kerfoot each time, we and the TV analysts really have no idea if that is true or not. They may have shot multiple takes with different players being named each time. Heck, all they probably need is a couple of takes of the guy saying McCann and Dermott's names. They don't need to reshoot the fish throw for each player, they can put any of the name readings together with the same fish throw in the editing room. Seattle has also said that there were multiple takes, so the possibility exists that the twitter guy was wrong or is lying. In any case, there is no firm evidence that Kerfoot is Seattle's pick so why would the TV analysts talk about it?

This is a silly little curiosity not a major news story.
 
I actually kind of hope the pick is Dermott....
However id rather it be Kerfoot than McCann. I'm excited to see McCann in a Leafs jersey. Also we can use the 550k in savings as sad as that is. I'm thinking it'll be Kerfoot though. We have some former Leafs' staff over there now...they will likely want a guy they're familiar with, that can play C/W, PK & PP, and play up and down the lineup as he showed in the playoffs at 2C. Likely left a good memory in Hakstol's mind.

I'd prefer to see Marner gone, but Matthews-Nylander and Tavares-Marner makes alot more sense IMO. They just need to find someone a bit physical to go with Matthews and Nylander.

Marner can't handle the top line in the playoffs.

They talked about it on Tim and Friends on Sportsnet today but just in passing which is about all it deserves, especially with doubts about whether that was the only version shot.

It's either that, or Hakstol is the asset himself (he had 1 year left on his contract, we allowed him to leave). Who knows with Dubas, I'm guessing he gave Seattle a 2nd or something unfortunately.

I’ve said it before but I really believe Kerfoot is the guy Seattle is going to take.

western Canada guy, fast skater, PK guy. Also has an additional year of term on his contract! I think the fact that McCann is an RFA next year will work out in our favour. Seattle probably won’t want to run the risk of having to pay him more than what he’s worth or having to go to arbitration with him after one year of being in the league.

He's literally at the scene. It's real. It's not about credibility at this point. This is what journalism is about... finding out?

Where do you think these insiders get their "rumours" sometimes. Sometimes they have to do journalism work.
