The number of roster spots and which positions would also have to factor into whether $10 million is a lot to work with or not.
3 roster spots.
2 middle six forwards and 1 tandem goalie.

No, but we can get like 10 Joe ThorntonsCan't even sign a Marner

So if you divide that up evenly into three, you'd be looking at about $3.33 million per roster spot. So two slightly cheaper Kerfoot's, and either a platoon goalie under contract like a Korpisalo or Georgiev approaching $3.0 million or a beater UFA goalie like a Jonathan Bernier. Or you splurge on one bigger acquisition and go completely ghetto on the other two.
Sure you could spend it all on bad players if you want.
$10 million for 3 roster spots isn't a lot of money for the pieces you need to fill. That's the reality of the situation. You either go a little luxury and super cheap somewhere else or it's comfortable mediocrity for all three spots.
It's $10m.
Impressive how you've so quickly convinced yourself that $10m can't get you 2-3 decent players.
depends I guess at what you’re looking at.

Once he officially goes we’ll have 10M in space. Dubas has no excuses, he has the ability to add this offseason.
What was his excuse this past offseason? Made tons of changes and failed hard.
I seem to have presented two options for how to divide the money evenly and unevenly which would allow for different qualities of players to fill those positions each with their own challenges and pros and cons. Feel free to share how you would budget the money.
We went with 0 extras this year. I say we're doing it again next year.
Though on topic - I'm thinking we probably trade dermott even if Seattle picks McCann.
That would be our best offseason ever.Go cheer for another team
Yes you used maths to prove to me that $10m was not enough money to get 2 middle six forwards and a tandem goalie.
You could always share some names and salaries for discussion purposes.
Agreed. This team lives and dies with Matthews, Marner and JT. None of the minor pieces around them will change anything if they play poorlyThe issue isn't that Dubas has no money to spend. 10M is decent. The problem is that the core has failed time and time again in the playoffs. The pieces he's going to bring in likely don't move the needle if two or three guys making 10+ million continue to choke.

Maybe some higher profile guys that might slide through the cracks - like a schwartz/tatar/palmieri/hoffman/etc.
