I'm interested in Deathloop but I'm hesitant to pay $60 for it when I assume it will come to GamePass eventually.
I wonder how long the PlayStation exclusivity agreement is...
think it's a year

That’s super intentional (the Fallen Order part), it’s Star Wars Dark Souls and won’t let you bail out of decisions you’ve committed to, so like those games learning patterns and finding your timings is bigStarted "Fallen Order" after finishing HZD and the DLC.
FO so far is cool in that it's fairly immersive wrt the Star Wars world, but I'm getting used to the simpler movement and combat options etc after having SO many options in HZD. I hope the skill tree is really expansive. Very early with only a few skills so sure to get more complicated. The combat moves feel a bit clunky and it's easy to get trapped in animations while mashing a button. Probably user error.
Final thoughts on HZD:
Was not jazzed about the game at first but gave it a chance long enough to get more into the various weapons and options. The weapons system still feels pretty limited but once you figure out how important mods and elemental attacks are the game makes more sense. I wish I'd gotten more use out of the Ropecasters, which in retrospect might have come in handy for shit like Stalkers (but I eventually figured out how to f*** them up pretty quickly). Scorchers too, maybe. They suck.
One thing I discovered was you could buy several versions of the same weapons and outfit them with one type of elemental mod each, so you don't have to switch mods out. That helped a lot when f***ing around with corruption to piss off herds of machines or get smaller ones to take chunks out of bigger foes, then just switch to the appropriate elemental bow or whatever.
Would have been nice if you could improve the spear more early on, too.
As was mentioned the dialogue is 90% tedious, useless crap. Could probably have done without most of it and made heavy use of the skip button after reading each caption.
The overall story is cool but the tribal lore is not that convincing. I'm also still not sure how wild animals survived and remained unmolested by the machines, when humans supposedly had to be engineered in the various bunkers. Maybe I missed some bits in the story.
I'm also hoping the writers decide to work in a plot twist wherein the destroyed "ark" spaceship wasn't really blown up and actually made it to another planet. That could be interesting.
Good value for a free game, that's for sure.
I'll probably play the next one.
Just finished up the Director's Cut version of The Ghost of Tsushima which included the Iki Island DLC. Blown away by this game. It's a beautiful game and the storyline, characters, combat system, and loot are all top notch. It's the first game I can remember still wanting to play after beating the main story line.
I started it a while ago but lost interest pretty quickly, mostly because I jumped into it right after AC Odyssey and wasn't in the right mindset for another open world game. After HZD I played a few games that didn't really catch my attention and decided to go back to GoT and I'm sure glad I did. My next step is to check out Legends mode a bit more.
Spoiler thoughts:
Has anyone played through to the end of Act III? What was your decision towards Lord Shimura? I ended up killing him for a number of reasons. He's so obsessed with the code and with honor that living in shame seemed a worse punishment than death so I put him out of his misery. Also he did try to kill Jin at the end to try and get back in the Shogun's good graces which was kind of a rat move.

In response to your spoiler, I did the same thing.
Like I said before, this was a hard game to play with 2020 happening all around because every storyline seemed to be tragic. Stark contrast to the atmosphere of the game itself.
Tagging @g00n and @tenken00I did the opposite at the end.
I realize I'm like the only person in the world who did that.Jin's whole journey up to that point was about choosing practicality and necessity over honor, so why turn back at the end?
The code got Tsushima overrun by Mongoles. f*** it.

I had to pause the game and think about what I wanted to do, it was tough. On an emotional level I wanted to see the happy ending but I knew that wasn't going to happen and keeping him alive but not having a relationship with him would give me less closure than just killing him.
It also boiled down to Jin's other homies were always ride or die and Lord Shimura wanted to support Jin only so long as Jin was who Lord Shimura wanted him to be. His appreciation for Jin saving his ass was to tell Jin he didn't do things the right way and then he wanted to sell him out to the Shogun. Sorry bro, ain't happening.
Also, why'd they have to kill the horse? And Taka? And poor Norio's brother?? What kind of sadistic shit was that? This game was way more brutal than I was expecting. So many of the side missions end up in tragedy when you think you're going to save the day, bummer.
Anyone play the Iki Island expansion? I ended up liking it but I thought it was a bit weird. The constant acid trips with The Eagle were f***ing annoying, could have done without that.
The writers are brilliant and how they wove the storyline of Tenzo and Jin's father was terrific. Also loved that Kenji made another appearance, he was great. I hope he's in GoT2 if there's a sequel.
And the horse armor / "running fools over" perk is dope. Love being able to just run guys over instead of having to challenge to a duel or get off the horse and fight.
Lol dude I know I’m just like, do I really need to see burnt/impaled/hanging/decapitated bodies literally everywhere I go? Does every single village on the island need to pillaged and plundered with dead ass corpses everywhere? Does everyone’s family have to die a slow, painful death leaving only one survivor to try and pick up the pieces?Lol. Feudal Japan was anything but pleasant. Same goes with Dark Ages Europe. It's a code that is hard to comprehend now, but that's just how they lived back then. Like the Vikings of old, it was an honor to die by the sword, no matter who was the one swinging it, friend or foe, family or master.

Well figured out one problem...I was on the wrong f***ing planet and was overmatched. No way to know this until you die a shitload of times and get to the where you need force pull to get across supposedly, and you don't have it yet. Seems the hinting dialogue is important (like your crew whining about going to X planet...that means "don't go to that planet yet").
FarCry 6 arrived. Yet to fire it up.
I expect similar gameplay to 5 and new skins. I'm ok with that as long as I don't have to deal with that stupid f***ing bliss cult.
Mild spoilers: Far Cry 6 is a waste of potentialReviews are lukewarm, unfortunately. I'm still playing it too, though.
Mild spoilers: Far Cry 6 is a waste of potential
Ubisoft games like Assassins Creed and Far Cry are becoming as much of a copy and paste jobs as annual sports games are.
I read some of the "potential" review earlier this week and came away thinking the writer was mostly disappointed that the cultural treatment didn't match personal expectations as someone who was from that culture. I'm paraphrasing and didn't read all of it because I didn't want too many spoilers. If that's the issue I doubt I'll even notice.
"And if Far Cry 6 is any indication of what AAA publishers can do with a Latin American setting — painting it more as window dressing than an actual picture worth celebrating — I would rather not see another one try. "
