I've been telling you and @g00n since both of you guys couch co-op play, you guys need to play It Takes Two.

Anyone that online co-ops or couch co-ops, it's pretty unique in that category.
I don’t couch co-op but I do play a lot online. Can you get matched up with someone randomly or do you need the same partner throughout the whole game?

I'm 2/3-3/4 of the way through Dread. It's solid, but a bit overrated.

The controls are overly complicated, it's way more linear than I expected from a Metroid game, and there is one particular type of sequence that's repeated a bit that's just not fun to play.

But it's tight and responsive and pretty, and the exploration part is great. I just wish there was more to find off the critical path.

Anyone have FIFA 22? Is it worth buying if I wore out 19 and 20, and got bored of 21 pretty early?

Returnal just got a patch that allows you to suspend a run, i.e. save your game mid-run. But you can’t just reload your game if you die, you still restart at the beginning. I think this patch is basically so you don’t have to put your PS5 in rest mode mid-run.

However if you’re so inclined you can copy your saved data to another source (external drive or the cloud) so you can use it as a true save and reload feature.

I still think about how good this game is!

Had a few bourbons and bought AC Valhalla for 50% off and The Witcher 3 for 80% off on the PS Plus Extended Play Sale. Decisions, decisions.

I want to try Returnal but I normally only have 30 minutes here and there so I don't know if it's worth it for me to try and get into it.

Well like @twabby 's post above wrote, they just patched Returnal up so that you can save anywhere in the middle of the game.

It's not a permanent save though, so when you load it, the save will disappear. But you will be able to save and leave whenever you like.

But if you already bought games, you should probably play those first and wait for a sale on Returnal.

Meanwhile I'll be doing something I haven't done since I got my PS5: I am going to dust off the ol' Switch and play Metroid Dread. I hear it's good, though I'll be honest I was hoping that I'd be playing Metroid Prime 4 by now.

I don't really get the feature, to be honest. So I can save my run and turn off the PS5 and then come back to the save point, but if I die at any point before getting to the next stage (or whatever it's called) the save point goes away and I restart completely? Am I understanding that correctly? Can I save whenever or do I have to get to specific save points?

It's a rogue-like, so when you die you start from the beginning and lose all your money (currency) weapons and items.

BUT you keep certain things like weapon trait levels. A special currency (ether). Your own knowledge of the area, enemies, item locations, bosses (most important!!).

Once you beat an area and its boss, you open a shortcut to the next level that you can take without having to do that level all over.

There is a hard checkpoint midway through the game as well that you will respawn at every time you die.

There are 6 levels in all broken up into 2 acts. So levels 1-3 are first act. 4-6 are second act.

If you die in level 3, you will respawn back at the beginning in level 1. But you will have opened up shortcuts from level 1 to go back to level 3 without doing all of levels 1 and 2.

The same idea goes for levels 4-6.

Before the new save feature, you couldn't save anywhere. You were always going to start back at level 1 (or level 4) if you turned the game off. That meant the runs could last a few hours and people were mad at that if real life called they had to start back at the beginning.. So this save allows them to save the game and come back to that spot where they saved. But the save disappears after you load it.

Same. FC6 is going to take foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrr at the rate I'm going.

Finished Dread, and I was disappointed. I wanted a moody exploration game, and instead I got a mostly linear twitch shooter with a bunch of QTEs.

The good news is, I bought a physical copy, so I can get some of my money back.

Yeah it seemed like people either really really liked Metroid Dread or was really really disappointed. Kind of like Other M.

I have never really played games in VR but this one I’d try. Played the original one on GameCube back in the day and remember crapping my pants with how intense that village part was:

And they added a killer photo mode.
