LOL.
Elden Ring, please. I haven't even heard of that one. The correct answer is Horizon Zero Dawn: Forbidden West.
Elden Ring is the game by the developers of Dark Souls in a setting/plot written by George RR Martin. It’s not my cup of tea, but I know a bunch of people who are hyped for it.

Posting some new trailers for games that I'm interested in and that were announced at the Game Awards a few days ago. Star Wars was already posted.

The combat in valhalla is piss poor, glad i only spent 20 bucks on it. Its also too choppy in resolution mode. Tsushima has set the bar so high

Is elden ring supposed to be like dark souls?

It's described as an open-world dark souls in a story based in lore written by George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones) and also made by the same guy behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

So take that as you will

Coming out late February 2022.

Seems more interesting than Dark Souls which just pisses me off as needlessly punishing.

I used to play King's Field in the 90s and loved that shit, so expected more from DS. This combo of more open world plus G0T credentials seems more enticing.

Has anyone played Hades? Seems fun but limited. Hoping there’s more to it than just the four levels because I got to The Temple after only a few attempts.
I liked Hades a lot, but there's not a ton of content. The game is built around replaying the same sections, though it does throw variations at you. Your weapons and equipment change every run, and you get some persistent upgrades, so there are reasons to keep going.

You have to beat the final boss 10 times to get the true ending.

It’s a really captivating game in terms of storyline and ease of gameplay but yeah, I got to the final boss probably my 8th run through. Haven’t beaten him yet but still I was wondering if I actually made it to the main boss after only an hour or so of playing or if it’s like an Assassin’s Creed thing where the intro was very long and then it opened up into a much bigger game but maybe not.

One thing that’s disappointing is the contractor upgrade options. Seems like there’s only maybe 10% of the upgrades that actually help you in gameplay and the rest are changing the color of the drapes or adding a fountain to the main hall or something. The other thing that irritates me is how rare it is to get Titan’s Blood. I’ve only seen it when you clear a level with a new weapon so upgrading your gear is a slog.

What was your favorite weapon? I got the furthest with the cannon but I kinda like the shield and the trident. I like the gloves a lot but there’s no distance option with them which makes the boss battles difficult. The sword seems useless but maybe I just need to upgrade it.

It’s a great waste of time game. If I have half an hour or so I can just do a run through and if I have to step away I’ll just set the PS to rest mode and pick it up when I get back.

I almost always played with whatever weapon got the bonus, so I came to like all of them. Weapon effectiveness really depends on what boons you get. At first I didn't like the sword at all, but then I got a boon combo that let me chain AOE jumping attacks, so I had a blast vaulting around chambers slamming enemies. So they're all good with the right combo.

If I had to pick though, it would be the shield or the gun.

I think you can get extra upgrade points if you play with penalties, but it's been over a year since I played so I'm not sure. Some of the penalties are trivial, so they're worth doing.

It will probably take you a bunch more runs to actually beat the main boss. I got to him early on too but couldn't beat him till I got a few more upgrades.

Plus if you want to see the actual ending of the game you have to beat him 10 times or so.

If you wanna cheese it up go Shield of Chaos with Zeus.

Go try Demeter fists with Zeus+Artemis and get that 900% shield damage hammer and it won’t matter that you have no range. chain lighting and dash attacks set you up for the fat uppercut

Zeus primary generally goes well with fists for range reasons
