Relegation is a great concept, until it's your team that gets relegated, and then stuck in the 2nd division for half a decade slowly becoming irrelevant even in danger of going into the 3rd division.
Following football can be much more painful than following hockey. Finishing last in the NHL - you get a shiny new toy. Finishing last in football - you get only pain.

I can see that. They'd have to structure it in such a way as to make it interesting and meaningful - for me, I feel that's missing in today's NHL.

In a way, I'd like to see a tiered league take away the drive towards tanking or just being bad on purpose. I get that teams do it because that's the best way to acquire top end talent. But I'm sure there's a better way of doing things.

I agree. Relegation battle can be exciting. Teams at the bottom actually playing for something. There's no tanking in football.

I haven't played a shooter in years but new counter strike might get me back into it. Or it will remind me how unbelievably frustrating that game is. I think I've gotten better at dealing with that though after 300 deaths in Noita before my first win. I still recomend that game. Lost my save recently and started over to the tune of 3 wins in 18 runs.

Despite my avatar, I haven't really played video games in any consistent capacity for ~4 years. This is mainly due to the birth of my children - I just don't have the time to do everything I used to do.

However, my 4-year old son has recently stumbled upon Super Mario and Mario Party videos on youtube. So Wednesday, I pulled out the old Wii and hooked up the New Super Mario Bros for him to try. He died quite a bit, and got super frustrated after about 5 or 10 mins of playing, but he had a blast. When he went to bed, I loaded it back up and my wife and I ran through a few of the levels. It was a fun - I certainly miss video games.

Can’t wait for this. Hogwarts has been amazing so far and will hold me down until then, but I can’t wait for this game.

I like how in the first game you are a "run of the mill" Jedi instead of the mega-powerful elite that is the usual in SW games. And the game makes it clear how huge the gap is when you meet Vader.

We already know exactly what D4 is. The combat will be fun for a couple of days. Then people will realize there's zero meaningful depth to itemization or character building and most will be done with it after one character or playthrough. Then they'll return every once in a while and repeat the exact same cycle.

Everyone will either love or hate the forced multiplayer aspect and no one will change their mind.

It's almost like we've seen this before...

I hear you on that. My boy is 11 now and I feel like I've missed a decade of games. But now he's old enough for sports games and all the Mario games. My video game time is mostly with him. Is it me, or does NHL23 absolutely suck? You can't score and the skating is very arcadish. They must have changed the engine since NHL21 and it bigtime sucks.
