OT: Video Game Thread Part VII

There’s no way on earth you could understand what was even going on with Dwarf Fortress in 5 minutes. That doesn’t mean it’s for you and I’m not even saying to give it another try, but this is like saying you were disappointed in the first level of Path of Exile. You never even started the game. The point of it is the complexity.

Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress are very similar games. The former focuses more on the individuals (micro) in your colony. The latter is more focused on your fortress (macro) as a whole.

I played PoE for 5 years and hate myself. Does that count?

WoW as in warcraft..did that..every so often i get a slight twinge to play...then i'll install it and after 5 minutes log out and uninstall lol

Correct. Though, I'm currently only playing classic. Haven't played retail since the very start of shadowlands. Played a toon or two through the story and then switched to regular classic before migrating to burning crusade classic. Surprisingly, really looking forward to WOTLK classic in a few weeks here.

i was semi-debating on trying it out again when Dragonflight came out

I played WoW in middle school when it was still new. I was a level 60 gnome mage. What a time. I had my priorities enough in order to quit cold turkey when I was playing too much, but I have a lot of nostalgia for it.

I have a friend who is just f***ing obsessed with that game. Like 10 accounts all fully kitted. He was my tour guide for a few days, and I had some fun. But I’ve never gotten a single urge to play without him. It’s too clunky, too overwhelming, and too half baked.

It’s essentially the first “unfinished” game that was released with the understanding that it’s not complete , and it took like 4 years to get to the point where they could say it was finished and even then it was

The Arma2 DayZ mod was fantastic. Played the hell out of that for years. It was super clunky and glitchy and goofy, but it was so damn fun.

Then they decided to release the half-assed standalone and turn it into a horribly broken running simulator, where there’s zero loot and you just run until your die of hunger.

I re-downloaded it a few days back because I hadn’t played it in years and I figured they MUST have made progress right? NOOOOOPE. If anything, it’s worse.

What NHL22 are you playing?

A bunch of weasels put on the truculence perk, which means you can’t take any contact. I have a 5’7 160 build with truculence to troll. Hitting is way OP compared to 21.

i can't seem to line up any of the AI guys for a hit lol

also dont know why all my shifts are liek 2 minutes long and i am averaging 30 minutes as a forward lol

Not sure I can do retail again. I think WOTLK classic may finally give me the closure I need. Mostly because Cataclysm was borderline unplayable, but also because ill have a 1-2 year old at that point and won't have time for anything 'new'.

I created a new guy in Elden Ring fir New Game+ and equipped the stuff with the best stats. Then I took a look at how gloriously stupid I looked, like a dogman covered in cup-and-char pepperoni, and remembered a classic meme that provided the perfect name.

It's The Sims with a lot of violence.

From time to time you'll be given the option to accept various quests. Sometimes a local town will want X amount of a certain item. That item could range from swords to hats to human skin. I recently had a town contact me wanting something like 600 units of human leather. Each human you skin gives you 30, so this would have required wiping out several villages. I didn't accept the quest, but only because I didn't quite have the firepower to take on that many enemies at once.

What if you root for the xenomorphs?

I've been there, tbh. Sometimes your colonists act like really whiny children. I don't care if you're sad because you just watched your husband get his head shot off by a murder robot, I need you to make 45 chairs so I can deliver them to the nearby town to get a widescreen tv in return. Occasionally I'll get fed up with a colony and find fun ways to off the remaining survivors.

Anyone who picked up a PS5...how? I have all the apps and follow all the people on Twitter and still keep missing out. Even finally got the PlayStation Direct email invite for today and STILL somehow missed out. Sat in the queue from 2-4 on my computer without anything, then tried on my phone and somehow got in before the computer. There was only the Horizon Forbidden West bundle available by then and I added to my cart and it said "sorry this item just sold out."

Wtf??? I literally sat in the queue all day, then qhen I got in everything was sold out. I did find one in the wild yesterday at Game stop but you had to buy a bunch of extras I did not want and it would have been like $800.

That practice needs to be illegal
