OT: Video Game Thread Part VII

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Warzone has a million problems, but I still find it fun most of the time. It’s like enjoying fast food while recognizing its issues. Plus it has endless replayability and kinda scratches that competitive itch from when I used to play Gamebattles matches with friends. Destroying someone and hearing their angry death comms is the best. I live for that shit.

And as @Magua said, Verdansk was great, Caldera is horrendous. Theres a huge difference in quality between the two, both in quality of gameplay and quality of the map/tech. There’s so many Caldera glitches that never existed on the old map. Like right now my map textures only load in like half the time and sometimes my gun reticles don’t load in either.

I don’t currently have Cold War installed on my Xbox but I could always re-install it if you want to play sometime. Just give me about 1–3 months for that to download. :laugh:

I haven’t played Cold War in months although I did enjoy it. I was more making a joke about the time you downloaded it and we never played it.

I also just don’t like Battle Royales. I never will.

So I decided to buy the Backbone One controller for my phone. With my 2nd coming, my switch was a lifesaver for quick gaming. But recently nothing peaking ANY interest.

But oh my. The reaction time is flawless, it is super high quality (it better be for that price). I have been playing xcloud, geforce now (free version), and ps remote play games with zero latency t my phone and using this badass controller which syncs automatically. I also steam link from my gaming laptop which again works perfectly.

Highly recommend if you wanted to game on the go. I don't play appstore games or anything like that. I just stream to my phone and honestly feels like im playing pc/console games on a switch like device.

I take it you're not a Rebirth fan? Thats all I play now with my buddies. I love BR but sometimes it can be slow. But Rebirth takes away all that. Fast paced BR.

Nah, I don’t really like Rebirth much. I’m still playing the normal BR, even though Caldera is a mess. It can definitely get slow, but I play pretty fast. I drop into a busy area almost every game and then I just grab as many contracts as I can to hunt people down and get money for UAVs.

Really looking forward to Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2 though. The game is good at its core but it needs a million fixes, I also really prefer the modern Eastern Europe setting than some shitty pacific island.

Because I'm sure all of your are very invested in this, I finally got a graphics card on order. Best Buy seems to be getting a lot in, but they are all 2+ hour drives away and pickup only. First thing 8am this morning I checked and my local store had an EVGA 3060 12GB in stock. I was really hoping to get an Asus or EVGA so this was a double win for me. Now I need to actually make time to play video games again.

The Too Many Games Convention is in King of Prussia this Saturday from 11AM-8 PM. Tickets only $10. I just came into a free Sega Saturn, Atari 2600, Turbografx 16, and Sega Dreamcast so i'm gonna pop over and look for some games, play some arcades, etc.

One of my earliest life memories was getting an Atari 2600. Now that I have my new gaming computer I have to get nd s way to get my complete collection of SNES and Genesis games off the half-dead MacMini and onto the Beast. Also had a bunch of GBA Advance games on there too. I must play ALL the Castlevanias!

Elden Ring. Why did the Souls games get created? And why do people love them so goddamned much? It's like the only way I can talk to my friends now is to play that torturous game.

The Souls games aren't games. They're drugs. The rush you get when you finally beat a boss that's been kicking your ass for a week is second to none.


Then you watch people do shit like this, and question everything you thought you knew:

I guess I'd rather be told a story in a game than deal with every other encounter being the equivalent of a boss fight in other games. Each freaking little boss I've found so far is as difficult as the Valkyrie fights in God of War which were essentially end game content. Elden Ring is more survival horror that me than RPG because every little thing can and will kill you.

Any Rogue-like game where you have to start over when you die is bullshit anyway.

For me, that’s part of the appeal. You have to be on your toes at all times, or you’ll get dummied by a group of dogs and have to make the walk of shame to go pick up your runes and try again.
 
Picked up Tyranny last week. Made by Obsidian.

I don't know how I missed this one, but damn, it's a really fun game. Great story and fun universe/lore.

If you like PoE, Baldur's Gate, Divinity, you'd enjoy this one.
