Yep, BB is how I got every one of my GPUs that didn't involve waiting in line for 18 months. I perhaps naively thought that spending ~20k there in a calendar year would allow me to keep purchasing GPUs, but here we are.

Yep, that's where I got most of my PS5 and Series X's. The key with Best Buy and Walmart was if you weren't going to get one in that drop to leave it in your cart until the next drop and then it was easy check out. That was before they went behind the paywalls for most of their drops though.

I only have ever tried GPU's on Best Buy and hilariously enough, like you know, the first time I got it with absolutely no problem which I believe was during the "Verify Your Account" days.

Since that day any Best Buy drop i've struck out for the most part. Drops have also been far more spread out over the last few months which makes it tougher also. I also don't really have anyone I need to buy for so PS5's have been my only active target.

Yep, that's exactly right. I had every 3070, 3080, and 3090 SKU on a Wishlist at BB and just spammed Add to Cart on the whole list. Whatever I bought, I bought.

Pretty sure the PS4 version comes with a PS5 version. Unless you weren't planning on getting one any time soon.

The Too Many Games Convention is in King of Prussia this Saturday from 11AM-8 PM. Tickets only $10. I just came into a free Sega Saturn, Atari 2600, Turbografx 16, and Sega Dreamcast so i'm gonna pop over and look for some games, play some arcades, etc.

I went once a few years ago. Prices were pretty high imo. It’s hard to find deals at conventions wether it’s a game show or a gun show, everyone has the internet and see what it’s getting listed at.
It was a fun time other than that.

That convention sounds like fun.

I remember my buddy's Intellivision. Played so much Arkanoid and some other vertical scroller shooter that I can't remember.

The best was my friend who had a Vectrex. With its own screen built-in, we'd sneak it into his room and play all night once the parents passed out lol. Didn't worry about having to go out to the living room for the TV.

I never had old school consoles - my dad instead bought me a Vic 20, and I started programming right away. Then C64, Amiga, eventually 386, 486, Pentium. Briefly had a Silicon Graphics box and played so much Duke Nuke'em in between my Lightwave rendering sessions lol.

The size of the install is bullshit. The company that owns and runs the game can die in a fire (I love Raven, and they need to be their own studio again, but f*** Activision Blizzard). And there are better alternatives out there.

Aside from looking for a game or two for one of the new systems I just got for free, i'm also on the lookout for True Lies for Genesis. Super underrated fun game and way overpriced on ebay lately for some reason. My local store, Classic Game Junkie in Glenside, doesn't have it at the moment.

Now let me be clear, tuning in is not quite the same as watching. The game may be on one of the TV’s at times but I am certainly not paying attention to it.

I used to go to the main con for a few years when I was in the area but since it's really out of the way for the size, I don't go to it anymore.

That is the way to go about it. Look for one gem and try to find the best price. I was looking for Spider-Man for the genesis. Maximum carnage or symbiote whatever, I can’t remember. That and captain America and the avengers.

Yeah I have Maximum Carnage on Genesis. Great beat em-up once you get past the frustrating 1st stage lol
