What are the chances of Mete coming back to London?
It's anyone's guess, but I'd say 80% or better that he will end up back in London since it appears that Schlemko & Jerebek will be regulars in the Habs lineup. I just can't see them wasting a RFA year on Mete just yet, especially as games get tighter and more physical as the NHL playoffs approach.

Which would suck at this point but alas with the current management there is often no rhyme or reason to the decisions they make.

I don't see why it would. For me Jerabek should play over him, Weber, Petry for sure, Schlemko is likely still adjusting after missing so much time but I would have him in their as well. None of them should be sitting. After that big contract I can't see Alzner sitting. That leaves Benn, now maybe the Habs will want to rotate them and that's fine but I do not like seeing Mete play in favor of Jerabek. Granted maybe Mete is better but I like what i've seen from Jerabek and really want to see what he can do as they have to figure it out in order to either sign him or let him walk as a UFA this summer.

Sucks for him in that he is getting paid a crap load more. But saying those guys should play before him is kind of unfair as the team should be playing the best player and if that is Mete it should be him. I am not saying he is better than all them at this point in time but he certainly is not worse than most of them and he brings something that the rest don't bring, better puck moving ability.

My observation of Mete is that yes he is a good puck mover and skater now but for how long? Sa mère est très petite.
During the regular season he may survive but come play offs he will be mashed like a potato by the likes of Lucic, Brayden Schenn, Corey Perry, Ovechkin even Ryan White etc. They will be licking their chops and he will be dodging for his life using his skating and small stature to duck and run. Too bad he is not a forward. I just hope he doesn't end up with scrambled eggs for brains. He could play in Europe and have a nice career.

Ok first what does his mother have to do with this?

You do realize many smaller players not only survive but thrive in the NHL these days? And all but one of the players you listed are in the west so if they Habs are playing against them come playoff time, I would pretty darn happy.

Ohh and Ryan White is in the AHL this year...

Why would he play in Europe when he has shown the talent and ability to play in the NHL?

Okay so you think Alzner is good and that Mete cant have a carreer in the nhl. We clearly dont see this sports the same way

I think he's going to show a lot more offense than we've from him this year
I think people forget that he had more points in the ohl last year than Sergachev

would be great experience for him if he made the olympic team. Here's to hoping he gets the call.

Yeah, this would be the best possible scenario for him. I get the NHL paycheck is nice, but WJC and possibly Olympics would be a great experience considering how the Habs’ season is going now.

I mean, who knows? Given the strained relationship between the NHL and Olympic committee, this may be Mete’s only opportunity to play in the Olympics provided he is allowed and makes that team.

Is there something im not getting?

on Eliteprospect it shows mete played 2 games at the world junior with 2 assist.
He clearly got 2 assists in the first match and 2 assists in the second match!
now on the habs website it says, Victor mete with his second assist of the tournament ( talking about slovakia) Canada and Mete easily defeat Slovakia

Every other players has their points recorded for both matches like Gadjovich, 1 assist in the first match and 2 goals vs slovakia for 3pts...

Im kinda lost here!

edit: on the website it even says he went +3 vs slovakia but he was +2 and was +3 against the fins

It's weird because on TSN's official website, it has Mete with 2 assists against Slovakia and another 2 assists against Finland, giving him 4 points in 2 games. However, on IIHF's official website for the WJC, he had 1 assist against Finland and 1 against Slovakia, giving him 2 points in 2 games.

Either way, he's off to a great start to the tournament.

Why? There are a lot of small players in the league that are having success. His size is not a concern.

I'm not too worried about it, you have to wonder how he will hold up physically over a full season and the playoffs, but now that he knows what he's up against perhaps he can focus on adding mass. In the new NHL skating is so key and this kid can skate as well as anyone that ever laced them up. Smart pick by Timmins and his staff to see something in his great skating ability. Going to be very interesting to see how good he can become.

He dominates the play in the D zone at the WJC. If you watch the games, it doesn't even look like he's small, he's always on the puck and cuts an impressive number of play with his stick (has a fairly long reach for his size).

He is the most defensively intelligent player the habs have had in their pipeline, since I can't remember. Obviously he is ahead of most players at that tournament because of his NHL experience but still
