The best example for developing his career in the LNL is to follow the career of Dan Boyle.

You can't ignore the lack of size but he's only 19. He has plenty of time to get stronger. It's amazing he did as well as he did in his NHL stint at 19 being that small. That says A LOT. Top pairing is possible for him imo.

So...where to after the tournament? He hasn't hit the 40 game mark to burn a UFA year so maybe we should just leave him off the roster considering this season is going nowhere for the habs.

He's having a great year so far...made the habs roster at 19, played top pairing and 2nd pairing minutes, went to the WJC and is arguably Canada's best player. If we can loan him to a European team so he can work on his offense for the remainder of this year that would be great.

Bring him back next season permanently.

Back to London to continue to develop the offensive portion of his game.

Hearing in London Mete to be returned after WJC? Any word leaking out in Montreal.

And he is going to the Olympics?

Furthermore, Duthie and McKenzie spoke about Mete's fate after this tournament. McKenzie says that he hears that Montreal will send Mete back to London after the tournament with the intention to allow him to participate in the Olympics. He said Montreal tells those who ask that they will decide after the tournament. But Bob is convinced the decision is already made.

Good, despite what Ferraro would tell you, or Duthie, Timmins was not the best defensemen for Team Canada. Overall that would go to Mete or Fabbro imo.

If Mete can go to the Olympics good for him, keeps him away from the distractions on and off the ice in Montreal while giving him some international play.

If it weren't for the Olympics, I'd say to bring Mete back to Habs. It's not exactly the most successful environment at the moment, but I would prefer Habs axe this season, trade their best assets for promising prospects and picks and play guys they plan for their future. Despite the crappy losing record, Mete can learn a lot more playing in the NHL, even if it's for 10 minutes a game. My opinion, of course.

Gostisbehere: 5'11"
Barrie: 5'10"
Butcher: 5'10"

I know most defencemen in the Top 20 scoring are over six foot, but that doesn't mean you can't be a top four defenceman at 5'10".

I'm glad they are sending him back to London. At 19, I think he's better served getting big minutes at all situations and playing against his peer group vs. his likely fate in Montreal, getting 10 minutes a night when he isn't pressboxed. Plus, I wouldn't have to know anything about Dale Hunter's staff to know Mete will be better served in his development in London. He'd make a mistake in Montreal, look back for some instruction and all he'd get is JJD's vacant eyes looking back at him.

Also probably best, assuming the season goes totally in the crapper, is to keep Mete out of it, the last couple of months are probably going to be toxic.

Krug, Subban, Leddy, Karlsson, letang, Spurgeon, Mcavoy, Montour, Morrissey, Stralman, Faulk, Vatanen, Faulk, Girard are all six and under...

Crazy how Subbam and Faulk are considered average to big and Mete is considered tiny... with 2 inches in difference...

Oh crap I just realized that if we send him back to junior he'll probably have to impress the brass again in next year's training camp otherwise he'll get sent to Sly and co. in Laval.

Both Subban and Faulk are massive dudes tho, even at 6 feet. Faulk is listed at 215lbs and Subban at 210lbs, although he looks more like 215-220.

Mete is listed at only 184 lbs.

I want him to improve his shot and game in Laval before not just London
I'd like to see him start in Laval next year too... we need to patient. I'd also like to see him partner with Juuls as I think they'd complement each other beautifully and could be a top 4 pair for the next decade.

We've seen that he can survive in the NHL. But in order for him to thrive, we need to bring him along slowly.

I always loved arguments about certain centres being too small and when you bring up Crosby, the goalposts change to, "Oh well Crosby is STRONG so it's okay he's 5'11". Like just say it's not height then.

Over the century the NHL has existed, theres like 20% of players that won hardware that were actually taller than 6' and thats mostly because of Lemieux, Jagr and Ovi.

(Ok its not an actual number )

And alot of those guys have their height boosted too. I met Scott Stevens once, and he's under 6 feet for sure. Built like a frigging tank, but dude was shorter than me.

Even if he didn't go back to Junior, he'd still need to impress the brass again. Training camp is there for players to prove they belong on the roster. Should Mete stay in the NHL, play great, but comes to camp out of shape and a step behind where he was the year before, he won't crack the Habs line-up. The difference with next year, though, is that he is eligible to play in Laval. So, he can be called up at any time. Whereas if he goes to Junior, they can't call him up.

And we all collectively pray that Sly is no longer the coach in Laval. He was only extended for 2 years (this season and next), which can make him much more expendable this off-season.

According to NHL.com, Mete is listed at 5'9" and 184lbs.

The most comparable in size are (and it's encouraging in the sense it proves Mete's size is not an issue at all):

Ryan Ellis: 5'10" and 180lbs
Torey Krug: 5'9" and 186lbs
Sami Vatanen: 5'10" and 185lbs
Jared Spurgeon: 5'9" and 168lbs
Samuel Girard: 5'10" and 162lbs

Spurgeon and Girard weigh a lot less than Mete (about 20 pounds less).

The problem isn’t just his height he looks like he is 150 pds

The same issue with drouin, no matter what is his size he looks 5’7 160

He looks terribly small, I have stopped relying on nhl.com stats.
