Furthermore, Duthie and McKenzie spoke about Mete's fate after this tournament. McKenzie says that he hears that Montreal will send Mete back to London after the tournament with the intention to allow him to participate in the Olympics. He said Montreal tells those who ask that they will decide after the tournament. But Bob is convinced the decision is already made.

I hope this is true.

If I'm the GM of the SSM Greyhounds, I'm calling Hunter right now to trade for his rights.

Could you imagine that team adding Mete to play with Timmons?

Having Victor play for Olympic gold and a Mem Cup would be a dream scenario.

The problem isn’t just his height he looks like he is 150 pds

The same issue with drouin, no matter what is his size he looks 5’7 160

He looks terribly small, I have stopped relying on nhl.com stats.

It doesn't matter if you believe them or not. If they paper Mete's size, then you know they paper the others as well, which in turn, still makes these players comparable in size. And Ellis, Krug, Vatanen, and Spurgeon are having success in the NHL, despite their size. Victor Mete is not handicapped by his size. Size is no longer an issue in the NHL when you play quick and smart, which Mete does.

You can't ignore the lack of size but he's only 19. He has plenty of time to get stronger. It's amazing he did as well as he did in his NHL stint at 19 being that small. That says A LOT. Top pairing is possible for him imo.

I think he's a number 2 on this habs team, and a number 3 when we had subban, markov, emelin, petry.

I'm not sure what Hunter will do because London was at the bottom of the standings two months into the season. But now they climbed back into a playoff spot. So maybe Hunter would rather keep Mete to increase his chances to make a run.

But there are two teams I'd like Mete to be traded to should London choose to move him. As you mentioned, one is Sault Ste. Marie and the other is Hamilton. They're the two top teams in the OHL and looked at as the teams who would represent the OHL at the Memorial Cup. I wish he goes to Hamilton because it would be fun to watch Mete and Bitten on the same team. Not to mention with Matt Strome and the as-of-yet-to-be-made-official acquisition of Robert Thomas, Hamilton will be a real solid team should they add Mete in there.

It will be fun to watch, and Hamilton has certainly been busy this trade period.

Was just reading in that twitter link you referenced that London's trading Max Jones.....hey, maybe Hunter is going to be in sell mode after all.

Good call.

He's really not far from being an NHL regular.

I'm a fan of having guys get at least 1 year of AHL time but our staff is so bad it'll only delay his development.

His size at 19 shouldn't be an issue because at 26, he will be the same size. A player his height (and he won't grow taller) can't gain too much weight before it becomes detrimental to his game. He will remain in the 185-190 pound range. So there is no point in dwelling in his size now because it won't change.

He obviously will need to get stronger and sturdier on his feet when challenged, but that is something every 19 year old has to do anyways.

Thankfully with this time at the WJC and potential chance to hit the Olympics, he'll get a taste of what being a part of a good system/team means.

Sending Mete down at this point just makes too much sense not to happen. We have some depth at defense and aren't doing anything this season. Meanwhile Mete can gain great experience playing for Canada at the Olympics and Mem cup.

-Played on the top pairing with Shea Weber
-Won Gold at the WJC
-Plays in the Olympics
-Potential Memorial Cup run

That type of experience for a young player is unheard of to get.

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
Im guessing Mete will be traded in a good team in the OHL

Then will probably go to the olympics.
Which is probably gonna be #1 def lol.

Let's just hope Bergevin is not dumb enough to put him back in Montreal without Weber either to coach him

Krug, Subban, Leddy, Karlsson, letang, Spurgeon, Mcavoy, Montour, Morrissey, Stralman, Faulk, Vatanen, Faulk, Girard are all six and under...

Crazy how Subbam and Faulk are considered average to big and Mete is considered tiny... with 2 inches in difference...
Mete = 181lbs at training camp
Subban = 220lbs since the year he won the Norris

He dropped to the 4th round for a reason. He has a slight frame, plus his shot barely registers on the gun from the point. I'm glad he's going to juniors because I want him to work on his offense and become more of a puck carrier.

There are 2 possible things here. And each one has his great and bad news.

London goes back to Juniors but also HAS to be traded to a contender as London won't do anything this year. So you don't seen him to Juniors without knowing FOR SURE that he is going to be traded. This would probably be the best scenario though...the bad news....is that it might still mean that Bergevin and Co are still pushing it for us to make it and it goes against I want which is to just tank and let go that season.

Then, there is the solution to keep him. Which would probably not be as good for his development, playing without Weber and with a terrible team yet.....doing so.....for me....means throwing the season and letting the kids play.

By the way, sending him to the Olympics is absolutely irrelevant and doesn't do any good for him. And makes no sense with the idea to send him to Juniors as the team that will acquire him won't want him to go.

Subban never weighed more than 210 Im pretty sure and he was much better when he was slimer.

Mete will stay in the nhl it seems
I guess he didnt make the olympic roster

Is he not eligible for the CHL? Why on earth would you bring this kid back into this mess when he was already being scratched earlier. If you want evidence on how we keep ruining players, look no further then this.

Now that I think about it. The Rangers do have Desharnais.

Chytil and Skjei and 1st round pick?

Bergevin still thinks this team can make the playoffs lol

It was said sad that after the WJC, Hockey Canada would meet with the CHL to decide if players from Juniors can go to the Olympics.

So for all we know, he will be with Habs for now, and if the decision is made for Junior players to go, they can send him down to participate.

Why would you want him back in the chl?
He clearly was head and shoulders above the players in the wjc.
Hes got nothing to learn by playing against junior players.

Victor Mete will be one of our most used defenceman (around 18-20 min a night) by the end of the season. You can quote me on that. I'm pretty happy about the decision, I'm not worried about him. He's a NHLer.

Olympics will be fun to watch but it will be a bunch of washed up players and amateurs. Let's keep him playing against toughest competition.

Edit: Nevermind. Must’ve confused you with someone else.

Read my other posts on why I think it’s a dumb idea. Unless he’s learnt a lot in a month, he’s being set up for failure.
