Some picks might be added, but I'm calling either

Ekholm + Jarnkrok for Dutchy

OR

Ellis for Dutch

I think Preds about to trade one of their d for Duchene. So they made this trade beforehand. Not saying it's right move or not, but that's my gut feel.

That's the first thing I thought of when I saw this trade come in.

Vegas must be retaining salary... otherwise that's cap drain for a #6 D.

I doubt Vegas is going to retain on any deals this summer. Can only retain on three contract at a time, Vegas is better off saving those salary retention slots for the TDL.

what if it's Ekholm for Galchenyuk

I think value wise it's fair, but I think Preds want a surefire centre. Duchene was also top 5 in face-offs I believe.

Anything is possible at this point honestly, only guess is one of Preds d has a high chance of being traded.

I think he can do well on the third pair. 15-17 mins per game is enough for him. I will miss his big hits, but hit cap hit. Good luck Alexei, please do not destroy any habs player this year, please

Ekholm would be the obvious D assuming this were to happen. Emelin replaces him???

Makes a lot of sense. Josi-Subban-Emelin-Ellis is still a strong top four, and they pick up that elite second line center they need to get over the hump:

Forsberg-Johansen-Arvidsson
Aberg-Duchene-Smith
Hartnell-Bonino-Sissons
Watson-Jarnkrok-Salomaki
McLeod Gaudreau

Josi-Subban
Emelin-Ellis
Irwin-Carrier

I was fully expecting to laugh at whoever dealt for him, but this actually makes sense...assuming Nashville doesn't do something stupid and trade one of their top 4 D. With those 4 guys ahead of him they won't be tempted to play him more than he should and they needed an upgrade on the third pairing, which he definitely is.

Now if they trade somebody then all bets are off.

Nashville's defense lacked that nasty intimidation factor, so from that standpoint I can understand this one.

He's a huge upgrade over irwin/weber

But is he replacing someone in the top4 to accomodate duchene? or is Nashville just supplementing and making a position of strength even stronger.

I mean at least it's a 3rd but jeez I do not like having the turtle king on our team.

I really think you guys are gonna love him.
Now, he does come with a lot of flaws in his game. But on a third pairing, if you can live with his caphit...that should limit his mistakes, and you guys are just gonna LOOOOVVVE watching him bang people on the boards.

I think it's a good fit.

Close enough, but you forgot Fiala and Yannick Weber. I would guess lineup would be more like:

Forsberg-Johansen-Arvidsson
Fiala-Duchene-Aberg
Hartnell-Bonino-Smith
Watson-Sissons-Jarnkrok
McLeod/Salomaki/Gaudreau

Subban-Emelin<--takes Ekholm's spot
Josi-Ellis
Irwin-Weber
