Confirmed Trade: [VGK/CGY/PHI] Noah Hanifin (75% retained), Mikhail Vorobyov to VGK; 2026 1st , 2025 cond. 3rd, Daniil Miromanov to CGY; 2024 5th to PHI

All these posters here thinking Conroy did a horrible job.

He took the best offer on the table, Hanifin and his agent handcuffed him. Tampa and Florida have zero top draft picks in the near future and the agent made it clear he was not going to sign with most teams.

How badly did he handcuff him? Am I mistaken in that he had a 8 team no trade list? Saying he won't re-sign wouldn't really hurt his value too much if multiple playoff teams were already looking at him, imo.
Limiting the trade patterns and then refusing to talk about an extension unless you were a specific team would sink his value as a pure rental.

Conroy did this trade to troll the Oilers right? since they may face the Knights in the playoffs.

Ouch. I mean, even if he wouldn't extend in most destinations.... just as a rental he could've fetched more. I know teams won't like trading for him knowing he doesn't intend to sign, but still...

Honestly, more GMS need to collude to refuse to help out with money in these deals. If nobody agrees to broker these deals then this will stop

Seems like Hanifin was handcuffing them with his NTC. I suppose that's his right as a player, but it sure sucks if you're on the selling end of the deal.
Ntc had nothing to do with it was not willing to extend

Let's be honest these same low quality posters have been saying we won't get a decent return for the last week or so... many even claimed we wouldn't get a first... but now that it's possibly done the Flames did a bad job.... it's just another example of weak ass trolling

Reactions: The don godfather
PA is gonna take a hard stand on this in 2026, I think owners are gonna be forced to cave in some capacity
The NHLPA isn't going to do [Samuel L. Jackson voice] a goddamn thing [/SLJ voice] about it.

Any action to implement a cap in the playoffs - especially one like some people keep asking for here - results in players on playoff teams being restricted in some way from playing in playoff games, for purely arbitrary "financial" reasons that have nothing to do with player salaries in the playoffs [which aren't a thing because the players only get contractually paid for the regular season] under the guise of "fairness" that, as I've explained countless times now, have the potential to do harm to players on innocent teams without actually fixing the alleged problem. Why in the hell would the NHLPA do that to its members?

His NTC was 8 teams was it not? And it was submitted at the beginning of the year? So I'm failing to see where the handcuff is?

I'm sure his value as a pure rental is a f***load less than his value if he's wiling to talk extension. If he's got 8 teams on his list, and he's only interested in signing before July 1 with, say, 2 of them, you've got a pretty crappy trade market.
