‘Shore up crease for next year’.

My brother in Christ we traded an expiring Husso and then turned around to trade for someone as bad as Husso with an extra year, and a 4th line center.
Mrazek hasn't been that bad relative to his stats given the team in front of him. This is not such a bad move here.

We also desperately need playoff experience. Desperately. The difference between an 18th overall pick and a 14th overall pick are negligible, but playoff experience is incredibly valuable.

Do you think a 2nd or 3rd round pick is going to be the difference in our future? Really?

Don't necessarily disagree with you. But it's so hard to know if any of the players today were ever in reach for Detroit(That would've made a difference). Because I'd reckon most people on here would lose their shit even more if he gave up one of the gifted prospects for something short sighted.

I’m very time poor so will expand later on my thoughts on JV.

But what is this?? Mrazek back? Has another year at $4+ million?? Why are we the suckers taking that on, why?

Soucy was had for a 3rd. Frederic for a 2nd

No these aren’t game changers, but they’re a hell of a lot better than Motte or Justin Holl.

Veleno definitely was an air ball. Mrazek is better at times than he’s given credit for around here; he can be a difference maker at times and a sieve at others. Guess we’re gambling. Bizarre move though that I definitely never saw coming 😂

Last year Mrazek was fantastic behind bad team

This year Mrazek is atrocious and lost plenty of games on his own. Maybe next year he is back to being good. He seems to fluctuate on good/bad season by season

Smith is mostly cooked but can pass on 4th line for periods of being ok or slightly meh. But he also has nights in which he is pretty terrible

Dont really understand this trade from Detroit POV

Hawks GM said he wanted to do right for Mrazek since he had no future here in Chicago

Veleno sucked every time I saw Wings play in recent years so I dont expect anything from him here in Chicago

Hawks opened nearly $2M in cap room for next year so that is a +
Is that 192,000 posts?

We needed a goalie and needed to move on from Veleno. It's very simple. Not sure why the other wings fans are so upset.

The issue with Yzerman and co being Lou Lamoriello levels of tight lipped, we'll never know if we were ever in on these or not.

Mrazek hasn’t had a good year since 2021. And where was he? Carolina.

Smith cant play C anymore

He is a winger (Reichel a winger forced to play C has been playing C on his line most of year)

That’s the point. Why wouldn’t we have ever been in on that?

There’s no reason for Van to not accept a 3+4th instead, and if that’s the price to not have Holl in the lineup, you take it
