Has he failed, or have his "bosses" failed him ?

Well that’s the million dollar question although mcdavid is the one that does play the game. Edmonton needs to trade damn near anything this year to get a goalie. They do that and they’ll win one

Weak team with a bad culture, a city that rewards losers and celebrates mediocrity. Tough to see them winning anytime soon without major changes.

While I agree he shouldn't be mentioned as an all time great at this point, it’s not all on him either. He should do his part and try to improve defensively, the Oiler's team defense isn't doing them any favors.
Drai (-4) was garbage in his zone tonight. Awful game on that side of the ice. He was at fault on at least two of those goals. Aimlessly flowing around hoping for the puck so he could play offense.

His man scored at least twice as a result.

This is now truly sad.

You have the equivalent of today's Gretzky and Lemieux together, and every damn year they lose to a Glenn Healy.

Of course it doesn't help that modern day Steve Passmore lives in your crease.
Then you have a 9M garbage defensemen in Nurse along with shitty D and average goaltending. A team that 5 vs 5 is weak and if they get no power plays they are done.

Well, Stuart Skinner .890 while Jack Campbell had .957 in the playoffs. Still think they should just have rolled with Campbell until he proves that he can't do it. And even if he couldn't, he probably wouldn't have been as bad as Skinner regardless.

Well you don't have to just roll a guy... if you are a coach with brains you change it up on who is hot. When you keep having to pull a guy, just stop.

Wasn't rooting for either team. Wanted both to win for different reasons.

Watching the Oilers now countless years in the playoffs. Their D is a smidge better, personnel wise. Ekholm was exactly what they needed. They need another two-way defender. I'm not sure Woodcroft is the coach to get them over the hump. That's beyond personnel. Oh, and they need stable goaltending. They rode the highs and lows of Smith last year, and Skinner just wasn't good enough. They need a reliable goalie, at the very least. I wouldn't be worried about them scoring, they need to keep the puck out of their net. That's playoff hockey.

As for VGK, I've been rooting for them to avenge their SCF loss in 2018. I liked their narrative, still kinda do. They've bought the rest of their talent, so that undermines the whole expansion, underdog, 'misfits' thing. I'm rooting for them though. I am not confident in their goaltending; they have enough D to get by and can lock it down when they need to. They'd be my pick for the SC if they had better goaltending.
