How is “they win when they score a ton of goal” in any way evidence that “defense wins”?

In comparison the Oilers lost 10 times this year when scoring 4+. You really shouldn't ever lose when scoring 4+ if you're doing the work on the other end.

Vegas looking good but unless they can go through Grubauer and Bob I do not see it happening for them. Hard to see Hill holding up vs Oettinger and Carolina.

The way some people were talking about Skinner in this thread I thought he let in some bad goals but after watching the highlights that's not the case.... well maybe the 4th goal. Team defense was horrible in front of him.

On the tying goal Marchessault skated right on down even when RNH gave him a little bump. Ceci goes chasing, RNH fails to stay with March or he thought Draisaitl would pick him up. Unfortunately Draisaitl was puck watching and seemed like he didn't even notice March coming down from behind.

Go ahead goal. Draisaitl loses a puck battle, Skinner makes a save but puck goes straight up high in the air, THREE Oilers (Ceci, Nurse, Draisaitl) don't even attempt to watch the two VGK players behind Skinner and they bang home the puck that came back down.
Ummmm... the 3rd goal? And the 1st goal? Not only did he have one of the ugliest sv%s we have ever seen in the playoffs, several of the goals were weak besides that. Hebwas clearly rattled or tired and Campbell looked sharp every time in relief. Can't believe they kept throwing the shaken rookie out there.

Good series knights fans. Goodluck in the next round. Better goaltending wins as it usually does.

Sad to see our playoffs end, but plus side is that I don't need to read anymore garbage from the fans of eliminated teams or teams that never made it. Crazy how much worse the quality of this board is than even the main board.

On to the next year.

I know. There’s the one Leafs fan parading even though his team was embarrassed. Oh well.

McD has got to be thinking about asking for a trade right about now.

He was the best player on the Oilers again but he can’t do it himself, if they have a sieve in net.

Congrats to Vegas, the better team won the series.
Pathetic that in year 9 of Drai and year 8 of McDavid Oilers still haven't found any depth. Both have spent probably 90% of their career with either Kassian or Yamamoto on their wing.
They have depth. Their depth didn't lose them the series. Goaltending, Vegas playing a better system and scoring more goals at key times is why the series went the way it did. Congrats to Knights fans.

Oilers are too top heavy up front, and too suspect on D, just like the Leafs.

Vegas D is rock solidly built.

Maybe this will cool off the oilers fan base that talk shit in every other thread. You'd think they won something recently. Again, Drai -4 when it counts the most.

Such an impressive amount of shit talking from a fanbase of a team that hasn't won a single game past the 2nd round in 17 years.

As a neutral fan I was really rooting for Edmonton and seeing McDavid and Drai continue their dominance. But it's a very good win for Vegas, very strong performance.

I remember all of last year until the very last game going into the playoffs when Vegas was officially eliminated from playoff contention I strongly believed that if Vegas made the playoffs, they were at worst a top 2 favorite in the West. This team is built for playoffs, so not surprised to see them succeed this year.

For this series, this game, this moment in time, this chance to win,
Skinner was not the better option than Campbell
And I completely disagree.

Maybe next year you can try your luck with Campbell and see how that works for you
