Agreed that this feels like a last ditch effort by Buffalo to up the pressure on any of the other potential suitors.

No doubt they're really working on a deal with the VGK. But as we all know, its going to be a whole bunch of meh. So yeah I would be desperate to see if there is any other possible option before cutting my loses on Eichel, and moving on.

Lol what are you talking about? Of course this is how trade negotiations work - especially when its an open auction for a player thats 100% certain to be traded.

That's not 'playing' teams, that's just plain trade negotiations. You go back and forth between all the suitors until you hit a deadline and/or you think you've squeezed as much as you're going to get.

After the fleury incident, that seems risky.

I think moving fleury is pretty easy to explain, even if it went down poorly, but I have to imagine the organization wants to avoid making another "disloyal " move because it would start to look more like pattern

No situation is the same...

Yes its true this is not some 4D level chess kind of mind games here that the Sabers are playing.

But there is no harm in subtly letting the world know that a deal is close to getting done. It just may inspire a team, maybe a surprise one that needs a shakeup - or someone that was on the fence earlier to look a bit closer and take another swing - especially because VGK are a team cant offer nearly as good a package as most teams in the league could hypothetically offer. If anything this is subtly telling the hockey world that the once insane asking price on Eichel has obviously dropped if the VGK are the last team standing.

Many trades and deals come together and materialize at the very last second. Thats the truth.

And as long as names arent getting leaked, this is Buffalo doing their due diligence if anything, imo.

I get what you mean, but I'm just saying if hypothetically Vegas caves and includes Krebs - it doesn't mean that the Ducks & Flames got played.

Have they? Did they get participation trophies? Because last I remembered stone completely disappeared in the playoffs last yeAr.
I mean they've been the 2rd round every one year except one. That's pretty successful. A lot of teams haven't even won a playoffs series in that time frame. My own team included.

Why attack someone's ability to skate? Even if he couldn't skate, your skating is still probably closer to his than a NHL player. Does that ultimately mean you can't have an opinion or report anything?

I’ll provide you a bit of context. In Vegas, we are starved for good content being an expansion city with barely any hockey history.

So a poseur like Sin Bin was able to get in on the ground floor and spread his ignorance throughout the fan base.

Go to his website and listen to one of his podcasts. You will quickly ascertain that this man is an absolute moron.

Im sure this isnt changing the VGK package, thats not at all what Im implying.

Im saying that the Sabers probably are hoping and praying that another team steps in and puts a better offer on the table for them. The VGK are not a good trading partner at all for the Sabers. Their prospect pool is weak and their picks will be too. And they have no young promising roster players that they would part with.

So yeah Im sure this is if anything is an FYI to the rest of the teams that VGK might get the deal done - and some of those teams are fully aware that they could smoke the pants off of Vegas in any bidding war, so to speak lol.

Their prospect pool is fine and they have a lot of promising young players.

Agree to disagree I suppose. Krebbs is a nice player but this is Jach Eichel were talking about. None of these prospects come close to his value even when you add 4 or 5 together. Suzuki, Glass and Brannstrom was a real prospect pool that could land impact players. This is not one imo.

And I said no young roster players they want to part with. Who do you think they would give up? I see no one under 23 that would even move the needle either way aside from Nolan Patrick, who again is total meh when talking about Jack Eichel.

I cant think of many other teams in the NHL in a worse position to trade for Eichel to be honest. Only the most cap strapped teams.

Don't be silly edge work is clearly linked to cognitive reasoning and creative thought.

They had all summer. How long does this nonsense take lol. The framework should have been negotiated months ago.

What are the odds that Jack is not the same after surgery?

I'd say 15% if he gets fusion. 35% if he gets ADR - just my gut feeling.

A trading team will need to build that into their calculations.

If your expectation is to just make it to
The second round then great! But you don’t mortgage the future for that.

Brisson, Dean, Morozov, Dugan, Korczak, Cormier, Thompson etc.

They're probably not going to get a promising roster player 23 or younger for an injured Eichel (unless it's Krebs or Hague).

I mean't the 3rd round.

You gave the impression they weren't successful and instead getting participation trophies.

I think Eichel is a junk asset and if Vegas wants to hamstring themselves with a trade for him, I'm all for it. They're a division rival and I'll happily cheer them making a mistake. But we can't act like the franchise has been a success on the ice. 3rd round every year except one. Thats success no matter how you slice it. Only one team wins the cup every cup.

Habs make a panic move and sell the farm for Eichel?

It might be the only thing that save MB’s job.

I agree with that, completely. He’s not to the level of addition by subtraction the way the Risto trade was, but the team plays better and more like a unit with him absent. Maybe it’s the effect of not having a superstar to carry the load or maybe it’s his attitude, or some combination of both, but I’ve watched every minute of every game and the hockey is much, much better this year.
Don't think I would go there every time Eichel has been out from injury Sabres tended to nose dive would of have liked to see him with a new coach.

Narrator: they weren’t successful.
