Is your idea of "fairness" that "every team should have exactly the same amount of money, the same amount of resources, the same everything?" There are limits to how far we can take things to make everything "fair" and the more one tries to make things "fair" the more problems it creates and the more likely it introduces unexpected unfairness.

It would be great if people who go on about "this is unfair" would concede there are limits to "fixing" things to "improve" how things are "fair" between teams. It would be really, really great if people who want to "fix" things to "improve fairness" would concede their ideas would be inherently unfair to other teams who do nothing wrong and acknowledge well, you know what, I don't care - f*** them, they can die and go to hell.
You’re absolutely correct. NHL should get rid of LTIR altogether.

Team sucks. Stone goes on LTIR. Team adds players thru trades like other contenders do. Team still sucks.

Team might even miss the playoffs and maybe it will since the players on the team know how to collapse and miss the playoffs (see the 2022 season).

What’s the problem here?
cup

4 losses in a row, wouldn't it be funny if they miss the playoffs. They could have used Mark Pebble but shucks he just had to get injured again.

This. I doubt Vegas is happy about what's going on at all. Seattle and the Flames look to be surging beneath them, both only 6 points back with a game in hand. Even if Vegas doesn't get knocked out, they've lost home ice advantage for the entire playoffs. Vegas has the largest differential between home and away records. Home ice is a big deal to them.

A lacerated spleen is the kind of injury that kills your fire too. If every time you exert yourself, bend over, or laugh you're in excruciating pain, what does that do to your attitude even after you've "healed".

Putting players on LTIR isn’t the circumvention. You know this. Find one player on their LtIR expected back for playoffs and I’ll concede.
It is if they're not really injured. You never heard of Robidas Island?

I could see Vegas win the cup again just as easily as I could see them miss the playoffs altogether.

They are not playing good hockey right now at all, but do have a muffin of a schedule coming up.

Again, there’s a difference between putting guys on LtIr who are never playing again and keeping guys on LTIR until the cap no longer applies.

I don't see why people have a problem with this. None of us can claim to know Stone or whoever tru health. Sure it looks fishy that hes fine for round one or that Kuch was a couple years ago but if the teams doctors say they can't play before then, then that's the way it goes.

It’s more the consistency of these things. Dude can barely make it through a season, gets put on LTIR, they make it seem as if the guy can barely move, and guess how many games he’s missed in the playoffs over the last 4 years? None. That’s while players and hacking at him and the sheer brutal physicality of the playoffs yet suddenly he’s indestructible. Sure, you can say he was only 50% or what not but he sure had no problems being effective out there.
For real?
That's awesome

Fun fact- she is from my childhood hometown
Yeah. Kudos to her for overcoming the mockery.

It hurts someone's feelings, and they demand satisfaction for that.

1. Injured Reserve - and by extension, Long-Term Injured Reserve - ceases to exist when the regular season ends, because there's no limit on the size of the Active Roster in the playoffs. Thus, every player who's on IR or LTIR comes off at the end of the regular season whether they're healthy or not.

2. Vegas didn't make the playoffs in 2022. Meaning, Stone being "activated from LTIR" - which again, is a function of how IR works - didn't do squat for Vegas for the postseason. Which, you'd know if you read the thread or just took a look at the end-of-season standings on your favorite website that has such information.

I have to wonder who is upset about this so called cap circumvention. Obviously a lot of fans are but is the nhlpa? Ownership and management?

Yes. Everyone is upset about it. Everyone. And anyone who's not upset is lying, because they're really upset but can't because the league has told them to shut up or else.

And if you don't think that's true, ... well, you're part of the conspiracy, too.

Dude, you need to relax.
