I don't know about blaming Van Ryn when Gio and Brodie have forgotten how to play hockey.

Realistically, you have Rielly, McCabe and Lily the Caveman. Benoit is fine as a #7....you're not going far with that.

Absolutely. And imo they haven't been a serious contender any year outside of the Canadian division.

That option has to be on the table. It has done wonders for Oilers
We can't be on the sideline waiting for the summer to make a move all the time

Especially when you have a coach like Gallant availalble now, or even Berube. If a good free agent was available, you would want to snatch them up

Well the leafs better start drafting some defenseman cause I see none in the pipeline that can help us. And I don’t think we have the assets to trade for one.
So it’s gonna be built through UFA.

Same. There aren’t enough trades to be made at the deadline to turn this team into a true contender. Just roll with the team as is and let the chips fall.

Good chance they are out of a playoff spot in the next week. Once they slip out of a playoff spot, it will be a dogfight to get back in that will be nearly impossible to do.

So who are we going to sign in the next two offseasons as UFA defensemen (baring in mind we will only have half a dozen forwards as well) that's going to allow us to be a contender?

I don't see this as a vaiable solution when we need 3 or 4 dmen.

We should have been drafting bigger bodied dmen for years now, but our previous management team generally drafted the same player over and over again.

I dunno about that... not the out of a playoff spot part, but the nearly impossible to get back in.

Reasons for me saying that are based on ifs. If #1, Woll comes back and stabilizes the goaltending position. If #2, we have seen how well the team can play. If things get desperate my hope is that they have to rely on that type of play for the rest of the season.

Didn't quite pull it out, unlucky break with the Bertuzzi goal being called back. But a lot of positives to take from it. After the slow start, the Leafs rebounded like no other team is capable of. That's a skill that will serve the Leafs well when it matters. Another positive I liked was they players play for each other. When down by 2 with the 6 on 3 it was obvious they were all singularly focused on feeding Matthews so he could get a goal and keep his record breaking season going. I like that. The team care about each other. All good signs. Don't let the Negative Nates get you down. This is a great team.
 
Just finished watching the game.

Deserved a better fate. When you put up 50 shots you need to win. Cant take 3 PK's in the 3rd when the game is tied... Bertuzzi has zero f***ing luck, may never score again.

All in all we beat them handidly this year, and then lost putting up 50 shots - In a 7 game series I'd like our chances with a healthy Woll in net.

fun game.

Just make the playoffs, I dont give a shit where we place in the standings. I'd rather not face Florida in round 1 anyway
