chytl has a hard time staying healthy it seems...Mancini loops promising the pick is good and well Millers contract was going to get ugly at some point. he most certainly was not a 100 pt player anylonger.

Yep. Don't get why people are pissed or surprised at the return. JT Miller did not hold much trade value. 1st + Chytil was as good as could be reasonably expected.

I've said many times before, there were too many red flags on Miller. He's 32, long contract, NMC, known toxic malcontent. Not exactly a bidding war.

They got younger, a middle 6 centre, a right shot D-man whose floor appears to be 3rd pairing NHL D man. The Canucks are less competitive today from a pure talent perspective but in two years the value of the pieces will most likely favour the Canucks.


And not having the last 3 years of the Miller contract is significant value.

I don't think it's as doomer as people make it out to be. Not the best of course, but I don't think this closes any window for the team.

Somehow we got a worse player than Bonino (with concussion problems to boot), a defenseman who's not at the level Sbisa was at (may end up better, but not holding my breath), and a 1st that may not convert until next year.

And instead of giving up a guy coming off a 43 point year, we're giving up the 100 point guy who's still playing at a PPG level.

This is a fireable offense with how bad the return is. Maybe the locker room gets better & everyone plays better afterwards, but man every single year the Canucks have competed I wish they could give up this little to get a 1st line caliber talent.

The trade didn't close the window for the team.

The window was closed by the two players involved with irreconcilable differences.

The question of blame comes down to whether you think management had enough information to make this call two or three years ago and maybe be in a better position by now, or if you believe that they had justification in their thought process that this could be water under the bridge if they managed it.

If you think it's the latter, you put it on the players.

If you think it's the former, you have to blame management for their direction choice. They should have done things differently when they came in if that's the case.

We know how this management team operates. The trade that happened today isn't going to be the final result.

If the package the first and turn it into a young defender or center, it changes the outlook for the team. If Mancini comes in and is good enough to keep Deharnais, Juulsen etc out if the line up, that's a win in my book.
