Dunno if I buy this argument, last season JT played 20 more min with Hughes compared to Pettersson, and this season Pettersson has played 20 more min with Hughes compared to JT. JT's outproduced him both times.

Think some are underrating what Chytil brings. He's an excellent transition player who has tremendous speed. He's got nearly identical even strength production to Miller. The main red flag is his health (which is a big one), but when he's healthy I think he's going to surprise a lot of people here.

Chytil is definitely a 2C when healthy, he's an excellent player, just a massive risk on his staying healthy, but its cheap & short term so nbd.

The real issue is team softness went up major, wish we got Rempe back too, but I could definitely see another trade for Greenway, maybe hopefully Olivier or crouse.

Some of y'all might recall I kept saying in the playoffs, I was going to buy a Miller jersey. Would have been my first Canucks one too. Glad I held off.

As for the return. It's... disappointing. Chytil is actually decent if he can just stay healthy. Here's hoping he has a Byram resurgence. I'm not nearly as excited about a 1st as some people. For me, that picks needs to be punted out the door for a long term upgrade somewhere else. Ideally, we'd be looking at Byram, but I doubt Buffalo wants futures.

Pettersson better be ready. All eyes are on him now.

Hes never really gotten the opportunity in NY.

His average ice time is 14 minutes per game. Hes got one less 5v5 point than Miller this season.

Its not like he plays a lot and can never score. Not saying hes going to be an all star, but theres some undeveloped potential there.

He's also one hit away from retirement.

I can't imagine how much his game is limited by having to worry about that in the back of his mind on every shift.

I thought Byram was risky, but compared to Chytil, Bryam looks like a bastion of health.

And not having the last 3 years of the Miller contract is significant value.

We had a 2-3 year window to win a Cup. That window is basically now closed.

The end of Miller’s contract was irrelevant because we were going to be rebuilding by then anyway.

Imagine trading Jack freaking Eichel whos locked in for 5 more years for Tuch, Krebs and a 1st. Thats a franchise player at age 25.

Also Tuch at the time of his trade was equivalent to Chytil today in terms of value.

Based on what they did with the 1st and what the Islanders ended up paying Horvat, that's a fine outcome. I'd rather have Hronek than Horvat straight-up any day.

Like I said, we'll see what they do with one of the 1st round picks they hold, I'm not imagining anything.

I would reverse the Horvat today if I could.

Hronek is a positional fix that sacrifices player quality. Horvat would be the positional fix and quality.
