Ok let me see. LA trades a generational dman who is arguably still in his prime, for a young up and coming dman, which they already have enough of - needing vets and experience... And throw in a forward who's got some skill. What universe does this make sense in for the kings? SMH.

Hughes is already a proven offensive Dman, and calling Horvat a throw in forward with some skills, again bud do some research, you really don't seem to understand who Horvat or Hughes are.

Again your team makes this trade every day of the week, everyone except you seems to be aware of this.

I guess he is absolutely right.
What do you call a 39 point forward?

Since you seem to be strangely unaware of the word:

Context-the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed.

Now apply that and rethink your comment maybe?

No way the Kings make this trade unless they were getting rid of all of their older players, which they aren't. I think most people on these boards don't really understand what the Kings are doing and why Doughty is so important to them. Hughes is a great young dman but not what the Kings need at this time, either is Horvat.

Exactly

LA is also trying to repair it's long time bad image with how they have treated some past players. So the remaining 4 guys from the cups teams won't be traded unless they want out.
They are hoping that Brown, Quick, Kopitar and Doughty are all life long Kings and that kind of stability with help them with UFAs

It'll cost Van elias, horvat, hughes, garland, myers, 1st. Simple. Van says no.

I mean Myers aside, the OP might as well be asking that. Vancouver doesn't need to create two other holes to fill another.

Not to mention the value is hilariously off base.

Every team needs a Hughes and a Horvat, I love Doughty but if this was offered your GM takes it in a heartbeat.

Brutal deal for VAN (not even a fan). Doughty contract is nearly untradeable with the $$$, length and player age.

Wasted my time clicking this post. I thought this might include LAK youngsters i.e Turcotte, Villardi, Clarke, Byfield etc.

You think washed up Doughty is worth Pettersson, Hughes, Garland and Horvat.
I think you will be very disappointed in the return you get if he is traded.

What is there to rethink?
I call a player who scores 39 points a 39 point player.

39 points in 56 games bud, the games are the context, your either being intentionally obtuse or you don't understand context, I don't know which is worse.

Is Anzer Kopitar a 50 point player?

Bergeron a 48 point player?

Is Brayden Point only a 48 point player?

Why is this still going back and forth? Neither team's fanbase would do this or show any interest. One would hope that either's management would feel the same.

The Kings have zero interest in parting with Doughty, he is signed long-term, they are very happy with his play, and he's literally all we have on the blueline that is clearly top tier, not to mention he is one of the biggest leaders on the team. They've also just drafted Brandt Clarke, so they have at least something to wait and see on instead of jettisoning their best defenseman for a younger player.

The Canucks aren't realistically looking to make a cup run imminently enough to make a deal like this either. There should be no reason to trade a top-tier young developing defenseman for a veteran ( or "elite" depending on where you are on the Doughty spectrum) even if Doughty is 31 and has some mileage left on him. Benning is hit or miss but you would hope that he will stay the course, especially now that Hughes is signed now...

It doesn't make sense for either team so fighting over comparisons of either player seems silly regardless.
