Yeah, I definitely think that this is a good deal for Canucks. Star players make too little money in relation to middle-of-the-pack dudes anyway, and this probably is less than he could have gotten.

That's not what I'm saying, the market last off season is different than the market this year, it changes every year and hey if you think it's not a good value for the Canucks then do so.

Aho is a great player but he isn't as dynamic and creative as Petterson. Petterson puts up 100 points with third liners.

That's a good deal if Pettersson stays the same. It'll be a steal if he can become a little more consistent game to game.

You keep saying this, but all the variables between the players you mention are not the same.
Aho has never had a season like EP’s before signing his contract. Barkov signed his at the beginning of the 2021 season coming off a disappointing 2020/2021 campaign. Some semblance of objectivity would help you, if you tried.
Pettersson is one of the highest skilled players I’ve seen. Very fun to watch. Great deal all around.
Super excited as a Canucks fan! It’s funny how the majority of fans in here saying too much money are fans of eastern confetence teams. Y’all have probably never seen Pettersson play because of sleepy sleepy bed times.
Make no mistake about it, this is a lot of money. But in the bigger landscape of the NHL it is a fantastic deal for the Canucks. Given his age he still hasn't reached his prime peak. Only those with an agenda or outright hatred for the Canucks can say anything negative about this deal. It's a good day for Canuck fans.

I would argue most of the top players are also below market value. McDavid, Mackinnon, Barkov etc. all took less than they'd get on the open market. Hard to imagine Petey getting less than 12.5 if he went UFA next year
