Hronek is worth the 2nd at most to me, plus maybe a B prospect.

At this point maybe they should just trade all of their top prospects (not that they have many) and draft picks for the next 3 years and just go all-in for the final wildcard spot next year. High-bar, right?

Hronek is the only player he has sold. The reports were that as long as they were in the race they would keep Bertuzzi. They've re-signed Maatta, Walman, and Larkin. Will be interesting if this is the start of a pivot or if it's a move too good to pass up.

He was outstanding when Detroit cooked us in back-to-back games recently. He's an excellent player.

It's like the same people saying stuff like this will be the same people bitching when they realize Hronek isn't going to get nearly the same opportunity here as he got in Detroit and that there is a good chance that his play in the last month will continue here. Detroit has been playing good hockey the last month, his underlying numbers during that stretch are absolutely concerning, and inspite of that we still paid out the ass.

My issue here is not the player. It’s the cost.

I think that’s most people’s issues here. They paid two top 40 picks in a supposedly deep draft when 6 months ago a likely better fit in John Marino went for a 3rd and a struggling defensive prospect. They paid a premium because they blew it last offseason and know they can’t do that again. Poor management.
