Yeah, it was clearly just a conspiracy against Brzustewicz. Why would team USA take what it thought was the best players available, when they could take lesser players instead? How dumb of me.

It's not a conspiracy. The team had one CHL player on it.

Judging a players worth based on whether or not he was invited to an international competition is laughable to begin with.

Brandt Clarke was left off the 2022 WJC team in favor of Lukas Cormier, Jack Thompson, Ronan Seeley, Donovan Sebrango, Carson Lambos, and Ethan Del Mastro too.

Yes it was a dumb argument. They only take players from the NDTP and College. They have been doing it for years. Matthews and Tkachuk were the last guys who weren't from that program or college who played. They had a 3rd string goalie in one of those years in between too who played OHL.

Any chance Jurmo becomes a star? Heard he is a blue-chipper but don't know his game that well.

Wasted pick. Jurmo has been moving all around Finalnd trying to find a team that wont healthy scratch him.

We didnt offer him a contract for a reason.

He has all the tools, big , skates fast but has absolutely no idea what he is doing defensively which might be a problem since he is a Defenceman.

Canuck fans wanted him to transition into being a forward.

I had Brzustewicz as our 2nd best prospect after Willander and ahead of Lekkerimaki and Raty. Lekk was awful last year and had a big resurgence so probably took back the 2 spot

Dont forget Bruz is a late, Birthday and is only 4 months younger than Lekki.

There's no way he should be ahead of Lekky even if Lekky struggled last year in the SHL.

I'm always having to remind myself that some of these prospects are playing vs grown professional men like the SHL, while some prospects are in the CHL where 60% of the players dont play professionally after JRs.

All the best to Bruz, he was a very intriguing prospect with a high boom or bust! Hopefully he gets back into the scorescheet soon as he has been pointless for 5 straight games which is unheard of.

Kuzy has such a great contagious personality. I think he will be perfect for Calgary if they plan on rebuilding and arent so focused on playing "the right way" or "playoff style hockey"
If you just let Kuzy be Kuzy he will score 30+ goals for you, but you just have to bite the bullet with overall team success..

Take a look at his goal from last night for example....lol Kuzy didnt even cross the Red line on his back check lol... The other 4 CGY Flames players busted their butt off, while Kuzy floated, but then scored on the counter attack..... Its why Tochett had him in his doghouse.

This is one of your better posts. This is him exactly. He's entertaining, but doesn't contribute to winning hockey. Mikael Backlund is boring as hell, but he contributes to winning hockey. I'm not a fan, but he'll help us get a higher draft pick without being bored.

I would sell him in the off -season to a team like Chicago.. Can probably get a 3rd or 4th for him.

I wouldnt wait until next year's trade deadline to flip him for assets as i highly doubt a playoff team would trade for Kuzy knowing his style of game.

I kind of doubt we can get anything at all unless it's retained. MAYBE a team like Chicago would do something like that, but who knows.

This silly correlation being drawn between the Canucks having (regular season) success this year and Kuzmenko being a guy that can't help a team win is just plain stupid.

The same things were said about Kessel when he left Toronto to. There is a place for all kinds of players on a cup winning team so long as they are slotted appropriately.

He wasn't a fit for Tocchett. Why can't it be that simple?

I can't imagine him helping a team win. Even the goal last night. He turns it over at the blueline. He dogs it back. He coasts late into the zone. He then rips a good shot with a nice release. That's his player card all on the same shift.

Canucks miraculously were able to get a 5th round pick for Beavaullier.

Kuzy can probably get you a 3rd or 4th..

You just need someone like Cory Perry to do something stupid and have his contract terminated and open up cap space.

It was Sharangovich who turned the puck over while Kuzmenko was the deep man in on a PP. Of course he's not one of the first guys back.

I'd like to see all these stats that suggest Kuzmenko is such a liability defensively especially compared to a guy like Boeser... His relative rates are good.

One of the funniest plays this year, well funny to me , got him benched, but Kuzy was in charge of the point man on defence.....Point man gets the puck, rather than busting his ass and getting in front of the shooting lane or attacking the point man, Kuzy beaver taps his stick instead to try and trick the point man into passing to him.... lmao..

He is a great guy, loves life, loves people, he will eat a banana and drinka coke on the bench, teammates love him.... but he just doesnt take hockey seriously.

Tochett last off season to the team: This is the off-season of your life, get in the best shape you can, come back early to Van and lets get after it.

Boeser: Started training earlier than usual, changed trainers, changed training routine...

Hughes: Skated every day with his brothers and trained extra hard under the watch of Jim Hughes and alongside other elite NHLers.

Kuzy: Partied in Bali all summer and ran some stairs...lmao

Love it or Hate it but he loves life, not hockey!

I just watched the clip again. You're correct, I thought it was Kuzmenko.

On the stats, I definitely see it with my eyes. Some stats that show this are Kuzmenko giving up 3.5 goals per 60, 42 shots against per 60.

No one said Boeser is a good defensive player. He isn't. It can be true that both Kuzmenko and Boeser are bad defensively.

I dont know what it is, maybe it was the summer training or lack of, but Kuzy was much better the 1st year. This year it seems like he has no energy or stamina. He will give a burst of energy then just die off the rest of this shift while having little to no compete level. I know he trained hard after the KHL season just before he was to be a free agent in the NHL. Maybe he needs to do that again instead of having a summer in Bali.

Even playing witg Pettersson, who has earned Selke Votes before and a defensively reliable forward in Mikhayev, their line was getting out worked and out -possesioned.

This is what i mean with Kuzy's energy and stamina or effort. Was really shocked to see him play this way this year.

No, but the narrative is that Kuzmenko can't contribute to a winning style but Boeser can - which is funny to me.

Not sure where you are getting 42 SA/60. Kuzmenko's underlaying numbers are better across the board but he was getting 88.70% goaltending while Boeser is getting 92.21% at even strength.

As a line Lindholm and Pettersson were dominated last night at five on five too. Not that it means much since it's one game.

Almost as if he didn't have to since... you know... it was one against four. Would have been pretty silly for him to waste his energy to come back full speed.

It's like you can't see they haven't done it in more than 8 years. Does Vancouver still operate the same way as the Benning years? That was only 3 years ago. Goodness, use some common sense. Awful, uninformed opinions.

So they would pass up on a player that as you have said "defends like Tanev", while putting up the points he has? That is arguably the best prospect in hockey if that was true. Not a chance. You over-rate him by a lot due to stat watching. The fact is that they had better options, which shows he isn't the calibre of prospect you seem to think he is. Plus it isn't strange at all for them to have a run of U.S. based players, seeing as the vast majority of Americans are playing there. And you talk of common sense..

Lol, this has zero to do with Benning. And what are you trying to say by that anyways, that the way things operate change, but now the U.S. junior team is stuck in it's ways of the last handful of years and is never going to change??

It's funny that you think you know Van's prospects so well, but are clueless to Brzustewicz's shortcomings. Gotta win that trade that you're favorite team made, by exaggerating about it online!!!

There's some bad posters here, but you take the cake. Completely and utterly wrong yet so confident in your incorrectness. You should listen to some hockey podcasts. Frank Seravalli directly states in his podcast "USA hockey doesn't take Junior players to support the NDTP." Is he wrong too? Is them not doing it for more than 8 years not enough evidence for you? Do you argue the earth is flat and stop signs are blue?

It's well documented within these threads I wanted Brzustewicz before the trade went down. It's also well documented that I said it was a fair value deal, not a win or loss type trade. It's also well documented that I said his offense won't translate, but I think he moves pucks and defends like Tanev.

But don't let facts get in the way of your horrible takes.

"Defends like Tanev" I'd all I need to know. Homerism at it's peak. Congrats, you win the internet.

So you're telling me that given a 2nd chance, they would now decline taking someone like Matthews? If you say so.

DD is a fair poster, I woudnt be quick to call him a homer,
