I’d rather give two unprotected firsts than give up Bzerst
I'm excited about him. I don't think the offense will translate, but I think he can become a bit like Tanev. He has a good motor, average skating and a muffin of a shot. He reads the play really well.

good trade for both teams IMO

Vancouver gets the best player by far

Calgary gets a haul for a pending UFA who wasn't gonna re-sign anyways

EDIT: if Kuzmenko recovers, this could be a win for Calgary
Basically this. Kuzmenko had no value to Van but clearly has value if your a team with patience. So that is where the value lies in this trade. Canucks are happy to pay that even if Lindholm is a rental and Calgary got decent prospect, late first and a project with upside. Win/win.

Nice value for Calgary all told, especially with Lindholm's poor season this year. Will be interesting to see how each guy does in his new environment and Flames can always sell Kuzmenko next year again to continue the rebuild.

I'm not sold on Hunter but definitely glad the Avs didn't pay this kind of price for a rental. will be interesting to see the dominoes fall.

Sneaky value for Van was getting Kuzmenko's contract off the books for next yr.

The Avs and Jets were the teams that needed a player like him the most I think. Can we interest you in a slightly used Kadri for future considerations?

I think all parties would be happy with a Kadri reunion but hard for it to make sense with the cap. the Avs refused to sign him to that contract before and I doubt their minds have changed long term, and it's too long to retain on realistically. Just unfortunate all around

Uhh I think you might have him confused with someone else if you think Brz projects to be a Tanev type..
Nope. I like his defensive game more than his offensive game. I understand he has a lot of points in junior, but it's his reads on odd man rushes, his first pass out of the zone and his ability to get in shooting lanes and good stick that I like.

I was thinking Ellis as top end
I don't think he's remotely like Ellis. He has no shot whatsoever.

I know, it'll be tough to move him, but he's having a great year and the Avs still need a 2C. Henrique now I think is the play. Winnipeg likely will be looking at him too.

Doesn't feel like there's a loser in this trade, both teams get what they want.

Vancouver gets the right handed 2C they needed who can PK, can be on their PP, take draws, and be good defensively. Obviously the hope is he can thrive in a new system with new linemates considering he's been having a poor season by his standards. His play will likely dictate a lot of how this trade is perceived in the short term.

If he struggles, it will be rough for the Canucks, but he's an upgrade on that 2nd line even while having a poor season by his standards. See how he fares this season and, if possible, discuss a resigning in the offseason. Can see us moving out players with money to get it done should he have a great end to the year/postseason run.

Calgary gets a lot to like in this deal, and value wise probably comes out on top if things pan out for the pieces. The 1st is likely later but picks are always nice and welcome for a team struggling to compete. Loved Kuzmenko and his personality + electric play will be sorely missed. When he's going, he is a fun player to watch. Wish him the best in Calgary.

Brzustewicz is having a stellar year right now and has great potential. I've seen many people go back and forth on his value since being drafted and having the season he's having. Haven't seen much, only read reports but he sounds very promising and will be a loss for the Canucks blueline future. Not a sure thing though. I did see a couple games of his, but it was pre-season at the Young Stars tourney and watching him... I was very unimpressed at the time considering how many liked the pickup for a 3rd rounder. But since then he's been popping off. Has the potential to make the trade look silly eventually.

Jurmo is not much of a loss. If Calgary thinks they can get something out of him, great. But I've followed him a bit and he's just not it imo. Even my friend who I'm almost positive was the biggest Jurmo fan for a while after he was drafted and watched quite a few of his games gave up on him in the last year or so. Would not count on him being really anything, likely wasn't going to be signed by Canucks.

All in all, Calgary probably wins in total value if Brz, Kuz and the 1st can all pan out well for them and turn into tangible pieces for their future. Vancouver gets a key piece for their playoff run. The future can make this trade look good or bad either way depending on quite a few factors, but looking at it right now, everyone gets what they want

Lindholm will be joining his new coach and 5 other teammates at the All Star game. He is going to be an amazing addition to a roster who doesn’t have a RHS Center other than Lafferty when he draws in there.

He will be playing PP1 and on the PK along with being the best faceoff guy on the team.

Value doesn't matter for the Canucks, just need the pieces to go all in. Good trade.

I thought he really stood out in a positive way in the young stars tournament. Especially for an 18 year old. But otherwise I agree.

The PK is where you'll LOVE Lindholm. He's the best PK forward in the league in my opinion. When him and Backlund are together it's an like we're playing 5 on 5.

He’s better defensively than he is offensively
alright this is going overboard now, I'm out.

Y'all seem to have convinced yourself he's Lindstrom and are setting yourselves up for disappointment. Go read through game reports of him in his prospect thread, his defensive positioning and skating is his biggest weakness.

No, I don't think he scores more than 40 point in the NHL in any season of his career. The player I compared him to is Tanev. You come across a bit hysterical in this post.

Right move for the Cancuks IMO, paid a bit of a steeper price for a rental but he was exactly what they needed, top 6 centerman (best one available). Always am a fan of getting the best player available.

Good haul for Calgary, couldn't let a Johnny hockey situation happen again.
