Yeah...I mean, again I'm not saying he was a pure cap dump in terms of him having net zero or negative value (although let's be fair - he was a cap dump as far as Allvin and Tocchet were concerned).

But I do very much believe there is a reason on a great team this year, he's has no place. You can certainly chalk that up in large measure to Tocchet and the lines he likes but I just can't get it out of my head....Kuzmenko scoring 39 goals in a prime-time slot next to a superstar center on a bad team versus Kuzmenko with basically no role on a great team with that same superstar center still being a superstar center.

No your totally right. And to be fair to him, its only his 2nd year in the league. He's older but was coming from the KHL. Definitely some details he was slower to pickup than the Canucks needed him to be this season, and it just went off the rails for him.

And I agree that's why he prob won't be a target for any other top team this season.

He doesn't have much value, mostly he's an interesting option for middling/bad teams who need some offense.

The Athletic a couple of days ago when assessing what a Canucks package would look like in order to secure Lindholm:

Kuzmenko, Hoglander and our 1st.

In a separate article in the same Athletic they predicted it would take something similar to the Horvat trade.

In this case the 1st is significantly lower and the prospect is about the same (Raty had played decent in the NHL in a brief call up and his D+1 season was roughly on par with Hunter B’s, or slightly below it).

So, this seems around what was predicted.

Kuzmenko is solid, but his production last season was a total anomaly based off his shooting percentage alone, and 5.5 for a middle-six winger without a ton of depth to his game errs on the side of negative value for a team trying to compete. Jurmo is a dime-a-dozen prospect. This is very good value for the Flames, but I don’t think it’s as crazy as is being portrayed. Kuz seemed to be on the outs either way.

I hope this is good for VAN and they are able to get a good contract worked out for Lindholm. He's a perfect fit in terms of roster construction.

This is a godsend for Calgary IMO. If you look at how the Canadiens have rehabilitated Monahans value, I think it will be exceptionally easier for Calgary to do similar with Kuzmenko. He's a clear as day 30+ goal scorer given 17 minutes and players that fit with him. Put him with Huberdeau and give ozone starts - he'll be worth a 1st+ by next deadline.

Beyond that Brew has looked like an excellent prospect this year. His totals are inflated a bit by his team but he is an all situations minute munched with elite passing sense. As long as his defensive game continues to come along, this is a top 4 RHD to me.

A 1st on top makes me feel Calgary did very well for a pending UFA on a down year.

I dig it.

Kuz is a rebound candidate, and if he does we could get something decent for him at the deadline next year.

Brzustewicz is tearing it up with Kitchener. Jurmo is a huge dude that can skate well. Not a bad couple of defensemen to add to the organization.
Most of that’s fair but Jurmo is a nothing prospect at this point.

I like this for us. We traded assets that have no real value to us outside of the 1st.

Jurmo will be lucky to be an ECHL player, Brz has significant defensive issues that will likely limit him to PP specialist if he makes it, and as much as I loved Kuz, he clearly didn't fit Tocchet's version of the Canucks.

Kuz didn't fit Tocchet's style despite his amazing offensive season last year.

Kuz is going to be like Yegor from the Toffoli deal. NHL body who can play now, but it allows Cal to kick down the line for 2 more seasons as he's still under contract. Can then decide what direction they are going and decide to make a move with him in 2025 or 2026.

It might almost be good for both because of the weird situation with Kuzmenko. His value for the Canucks was basically nothing. But we know he has played well and could recapture some value in another team. The 1st is gonna be late.

Kind of a win/win

I don't feel the Canucks have given up much but there is some hopeful pieces for the Flames in the same breath.

I think Vancouver still gets Tanev, he clearly wants to return home. Maybe Calgary lightens up on the return after this trade
Don't think you can get out of the rival tax, especially with Quinn openly pining for his second dad.

Im going to miss Tanev so much

Thanks for providing absolutely nothing of value once again, Coffee.
That wasn’t very nice. I’m saying you start the basis, and I’ll see what I can do.

Come to think of it, I don’t think you represent Calgary at all, you’re a fraud.
