If it makes anyone feel better, the Ducks have scored one goal in two games and have one point more than the Kings in the standings.

The Kings look dreadful and I won't dispute that but I'm not ready to jump out of the window. I can stomach another loss in the next game as long as they show a pulse. It sure would be nice to get a win though.

If you could choose, would you rather see the Kings play another train wreck game and some how come out with a win or would you rather see them play a solid game and come up short? The answer is "either"!

Tough question after last year, heh. After a while I stopped caring how we looked and wanted results; but I also know that sloppy wins aren't sustainable. The problem is I've said "There are positive indicators" until I was blue in the face so I can't say it with a straight face until we get at least one W!

Sorry but schadenfreude doesn't help at the moment.

it's always good to win, even if we admit that we suck. the beer tastes better, the woman is more beautiful, the life around us seems more saturated, it's simply a better feeling. and for players and coaches too, ask them, bad game with a win is always better than a good game with a loss. and we need some scoreboard contact now.

Okay, so I already wanted to ask this after the 1st game and I didn't, but now I have to: is the pick that we sent to Carolina (for a player that isn't even worth a 1st btw, but that's a different story) lottery-protected?

Just curious, eh.

It was for last year but not this year as far as I know.

I'd like to call a mulligan. It's obvious that the players aren't aware what days are game days. The surf has been good, the water is still warm and the weather has been Africa hot. I say they ask for a Do-over.

I call BS. Check facebook, Most the team thinks surfing is too hard and Toffoli cant swim.

it is not. DL had the choice to defer the pick to this year. It was the right choice.

I already pointed out our opponents were a combined 8-0-1; well, Minny is 2-0 as well

Something's gotta give because they play Arizona before us, just thought it was funny. Obviously we're contributing to their numbers, but our first four opponents have 0 regulation losses, 10 regulation wins and 1 OTL.

yeah well we handed out 3 of those wins, so...

Good new guys.

We did perimeter shooting drills today.

The worst shooting% and save% in the league at ES through 3 games. That's just nobody coming up with a play anywhere.

Remember all the comments about building a decade long playoff team, not just having a few good years then collapsing like TB, Boston and Carolina after they won. About still building from within and not making shortsighted trades?

Somewhere along the lines the Kings got away from that, they won, and that is great, but people need to accept the fact that the window is shut. We traded the chance to contend for a decade for 2 SC's, I think everyone makes that trade, but people need to wake and smell the coffee, we have serious roster issues and very little in the system right now that is close to making an impact at the NHL level.

The Lucic trade never should have been made knowing that this would be the roster. Unfortunately the Lucic trade looks like another example of a GM that just can't accept the fact that his beloved core is slowing down and no longer championship caliber. That is why I question whether Dean or Futa should be the guy to tear this down.

That's exactly what I am getting at. Dean had a blueprint that worked, and lately he is just doing the exact opposite.

The Lucic trade was a disaster for several reasons. One we lost a good trading chip in Jones, and two we lost an asset with the first round pick. Third, Lucic is not going to resign with the Kings. He does not want to play here.

We're going backwards and sliding right back to where we were in 2006.

Drew Doughty urging the leaders to step up, but curiously identifies them as 'they'
not 'we'''
He is the heart and soul of this team, it's living pulse. He is a large part of the 'they' group.

The power play had an opportunity to get us back in the game yesterday, and we didn’t, so we watched a little bit on that,” Drew Doughty said. “Mostly it’s just talking to each other. We need our leaders to be better players. They haven’t been playing their best, and if they have – one guy’s playing well one night, and the other guy on the next night – we need everyone to play well collectively. Yeah, they put a lot of emphasis on the leaders taking that big step in leading this team in the right direction, and then everyone else will follow after that.”
