FVV moving on is a positive. Just a little later than I wanted.

There is a lot more to get excited about this year than last.

FVV moving on excites me. I can't stand him anymore, he was an insufferable negative chucker.

Would you really prefer Gabe Vincent over Fred? That's where we are headed if he signs with Houston (and the real possibility that Flynn might start)

Seems like Vincent is mostly considered a PG by defensive responsibility. He really broke out as a starter when Lowry went down but that also coincided with Jimmy/Herro handling the ball most of the time. As an offball player he doesn’t seem like a terrible spot up shooter, but obviously his rating metrics look poor. I think there’s some potential there considering he just made the switch from SG to more of a combo guard. Doesn’t hurt that he has the Nigerian connection to Ujiri.

You have no idea what you are talking about and it shows.

Masai is a spectacular dude, worthy of the honor, who happens to be President.

For winning a chip you get the order of Canada? Like when do you get medals for being a GM winning in sports in the US?

Become rich. Get knighted. Whatever he should just decline it like most other people that get the meaningless hunk of junk.

Again, he's being honored as a humanitarian

Lol i know Engineers that literally live there who are Canadian building waterways and designing infrastructure and get nothing.

Its a slap in the face and meaningless joke to real humanitarians. He is a spokespersons not humanitarian.

Don't actors/actresses, and athletes frequently feature in the list of Medal of Freedom recipients?

That's the farce of it all while Engineers are over there waking up at 4am + dealing with actual risks from the corruption to design and oversee a well or infrastructure that will supply 10,000 people with clean water etc.

Stupid ego pushing pay to play awards and titles. Got one for donating to a project to preserve some natural habitat a few years back. I didn't attend, just picked it up later like ya whatever that's not what I did that for.

There will be bidding wars for each of the following five possibilities, but they should be on Toronto’s radar.

Donte DiVincenzo

He opted out of a contract worth almost $5 million in Golden State. Maybe he’s not a deadeye three-point shooter, but he’d add depth.

Seth Curry

At 32 years old, he’s deep in his career. But the ex-Net is a nine-year vet and a career 43 per cent three-point shooter. Plus, he’s got those Curry genes.

Jevon Carter

Maybe not the most well-known player on the list, but he’s a plus defender, a capable shooter and a solid backup. And the ex-Buck won’t command huge dollars.

Max Strus

Hard to see a legitimate fit for a player who has starter’s ability, and the money will be hard to make work. But if bigger Raptor moves are made, he’s a possibility.

D’Angelo Russell

He can score, and if the Lakers do want to make a sign-and-trade pitch for VanVleet, he’s sure to be included. But four teams in eight seasons — two stints in Los Angeles — has to be a red flag.

Friendly reminder that so long as you don't hit the luxury tax, paying Fred and refusing to play him is still better than him going to Houston (because you can trade him)

A sign and trade also works, though I disagree that we'd be better off.

The third option is to sign Fred and use the MLE to add another PG (like we would do if we lost him) and actually make him compete for his time.

Fred is an inefficient scorer at best. I don’t get the attachment really. This way more ball time for Scotty and OG

It's not attachment. If he goes to Houston, we lose the potential salary. If he goes anywhere else, we can sign and trade and would get a PG back.

Yes I agree its optimal to keep him payroll “value” without him on the actual team, but let me take this example to say how stupid and inconsistent the nba team salary / cap structure is.
