I have zero knowledge about basketball prospects. Buy if I saw the guy that I am about to pick wearing a jacket that the the great late prince could only pull off. I would reconsider my pick. Kid has confidence. I will give him that.

Raptors made him a promise. The jacket is all about it.

Where’s the best place to read message boards when it comes to raptors?

Is this the best?

Go to the Toronto raptors forum of realgm.com. It’s a general sports forum (nba, nfl, nhl, mlb ,soccer, f1, etc)but NBA discussion dominates the site.
The Raps have easily a massive following and fanbase there. You will find quality discussion about the team, sport and the league, and you will find a solid online community of passionate and knowledgeable diehards.

And subscribe to the Raptors subreddit too.

The NBA draft picks kept coming and the anticipation grew. It would take a near perfect storm of draft machinations for the best possible outcome for the Raptors to come true but the storm was brewing.

And it broke perfectly in their favour.

A team with one overriding need when the night began, a squad with a gaping hole in the roster, got what it needed in what can only been considered a draft-night success for president Masai Ujiri, general manager Bobby Webster and vice-president of player personnel Dan Tolzman.

Gradey Dick, the consensus best three-point shooter available when the night began and someone predicted in many circles to be a top-10 choice, fell to Toronto at the 13th pick and the Raptors brass snapped him up.

It was a no-brainer for a team that was 28th among 30 NBA teams in three-point shooting last season.

“Get ready because it’s going to be a fun time, a fun, fun time,” Dick told reporters at the draft in Brooklyn. “Paired with Scottie Barnes, you already know that’s going to be …"

“I’m looking forward to it. Got to get out there, see Drake. I haven’t seen him a bunch, but I’m looking forward to that.”

Dick, 19, shot 40.3 per cent from three-point range in one college season at Kansas and averaged 14.1 points per game for the Jayhawks.

There was no obvious reason that Dick slipped a few notches from most mock drafts. France’s Bilal Coulibaly leaping to No. 7 might have dropped Dick a spot, and teams ahead of the Raptors filled frontcourt slots rather than take a guard.

It’s easy to see this as a home run for Ujiri, Webster and Tolzman, but until Dick gets in an NBA gym and competes against NBA defenders, it’s best to say Dick has the potential to give Toronto what it lacked.

I think that Dick might be able to fill some holes for the Raptors.

Good draft pick IMO
100% It would be ideal if Dick could easily fill whatever holes the Raptors needed him to. Shooting from way out...back door penetration...two on one coverage...so many opportunities to exploit and take advantage of.

Lots of solid balling opportunities for this new front court

The Matrix
Being a big college basketball fan, just thought I would throw together some thoughts on Dick:

A little small by NBA standards, but size doesn’t matter right

Prone to overdribbling, needs to clean that up

Great ball handler, it’s like it’s attached to him

Aggressive penetration, sometimes hit the wrong hole, but that can work out sometimes

Stand up guy

Usually goes limp on D after a big shot

Can make a mess of things on the backend

Hopefully this gives everyone an idea of what Dick is all about

Kind of a letdown night with sone of the pre-draft rumblings, really.
But at least some of the other kids linked to the raps went to teams sniffing around Raps players, and there’s tons of off-season left.

Getting the best shooter and good all around athlete at 13 is really good. The only thing you can do is see if he can make it work in the NBA. He probably should have gone a little earlier, more like some were saying at about 11.

A personality like his has the opportunity to be a glue guy. It seems like teams like him for his quirk and not the other way around.

You can't hit on every single pick you make. 20 other teams could have picked him too realistically.
As a follow up, Rajakovic is usually credited with having a huge impact of Bane's development, whereas Nurse is directly responsible for Flynn's lack of development (since it was a universal problem among all of Toronto's picks after he took over.

Just looking at value and what they bring, the Raps could line up something like:

Poetl
Siakim
OG
Scottie
FVV

Koloko
Boucher
Porter Jr
Dick
Flynn

Achiuwa
Wieskamp
Harper Jr
Banton/Barton
Dowtin Jr

Nowell

I was more excited by the thought of sonnet core moves.
Seems like the pick is a good fit.
(Sheesh, ya actually gotta work hard to avoid innuendo…I’ve tried and failed twice).
